Indiana Governor Mike Pence to rally with Donald Trump in Indy amid VP speculation ~ link ~ If the GOP is to run a candidate for Governor in the 2016 election, he has to be selected by Friday.  Pence has won the primary nomination but, under Indiana Law he cannot run for both Federal and State offices at the same time.  Hence he must resign his nomination as the State Governor candidate by this Friday and be replaced by the Republican State Committee by this Friday or no Republican candidate for the Governor's office is possible...hence the clock is ticking!  The resignation of the Democratic candidate for the open US Senate seat from Indiana and his replacement with former Governor and Senator Evan Bayh fits in with a Pence as VP scenario as the Democrats really want this Senate seat and with a Hoosier Governor on the national ticket, the only man who stands a real chance at capturing the Senate seat for the Democrats is Bayh!  Stirling
Trump told the Washington Post on Monday that he has five possible running mates in mind and expects to make a decision in the next three to five days. That fits well with Pence's July 15 deadline to withdraw from the governor's race so that state GOP leaders can choose a replacement candidate.

Trump also said he is leaning toward a political candidate rather than a military one, hinting that he may pass on another possible pick, retired Lt. Gen. Michael T. Flynn.

Sources: Pence and Gingrich make the cut in Turmp's VP search ~ link ~
CNN: As anticipation builds for Donald Trump to name his vice presidential pick, two hopefuls -- Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich -- appear to be the front-runners, according to a person familiar with the deliberations.
Baron Hill withdraws from US Senate race, clearing the way for Evan Bayh ~ link ~ link ~ link ~
Former Senator Evan Bayh, Democrat of Indiana, is expected to announce that he will run to reclaim the job he gave up in 2010, a move that could strengthen the Democrats’ prospects of winning majority control of the Senate in November.

Mr. Bayh, 60, served two terms as governor of Indiana, from 1989 to 1997, and two terms as senator, from 1999 to 2011. His father, Birch Bayh, served for more than 25 years as a senator and House member, and ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic nomination for president in 1976.
