The Russian Defense Ministry said Saturday that Moscow has deployed several fighter jets and a transport helicopter to Russia’s airbase in Armenia near the border with Turkey. Four fourth-generation Mikoyan MiG-29 aircraft and a number of modernized MiG-29S bombers and a Mil Mi-8MT helicopter have been sent to the base.
Located at Erebuni airport outside the capital, Yerevan, the Russian base already has nine fourth-generation MiG-29 planes capable of carrying a payload of up to 4,000 kilograms of weapons. The aircraft also have larger fuel tanks.
The Armenian capital is located about 40 kilometers (25 miles) from Armenia's border with Turkey.
The announcement came a day after a Russian draft resolution that called for an immediate end to Turkey's shelling and military actions against Syria was turned down at the United Nations Security Council.
Turkish threats set the stage for an invasion of Syria ~ link ~
The Turkish government is escalating its accusations that Syrian Kurdish forces carried out Wednesday’s terror bombing in Ankara, which left 28 people dead, including 20 high ranking soldiers, and 61 wounded. These charges are being made in order to pave the way for a Turkish ground invasion of Syria and a clash with Syrian, Kurdish and Russian forces there.
Both Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu have denounced the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and the Syrian government, vowing to retaliate. Fourteen people in seven provinces had been detained in connection with the attack.
Will the US War Party authorize a Turkish - Saudi Invasion of Syria? ~ link ~
Turkey and Saudi Arabia's invasion of Syria may ignite a greater war that could lure Russia and NATO into direct confrontation; meanwhile, Washington's powerful war party opposes US Secretary of State John Kerry's diplomatic approach towards the Syrian crisis, fanning the flames of enmity with Russia, Professor Stephen F. Cohen notes.

Bernie Sanders: A Democratic Socialist or an Out-and-out Communist? ~ link ~
Democratic front-runner Bernie Sanders says concerns about his honeymoon trip to the USSR in the ’80s are “silly.” He’ll have a harder time explaining his months-long stay at a hardcore Stalinist camp in the ’60s.
It’s clear the self-avowed socialist is even further left than he has admitted. Fifty years ago, during the height of the Cold War, he sought out communist indoctrination. The Israeli press earlier this month broke the story that Sanders, who is Jewish, spent several months at an Israeli commune co-founded by a Soviet spy. The revelation is just now wending its way through the American media, where it’s been confirmed by none other than the New York Times, though the pro-Democrat paper predictably buried the story on its back pages.
