Austria has warned Greece that it could face "temporary exclusion" from the European Union (EU)'s passport-free Schengen zone if it fails to tighten controls on its borders and stop the flood of refugees.
"If the Athens government does not finally do more to secure the [EU's] external borders, then one must openly discuss Greece's temporary exclusion from the Schengen zone," Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner said in an interview with German daily Die Welt on Saturday.
Extreme, Extremer, Extremest ~ link ~
This week, a furious battle broke out between Binyamin Netanyahu together with his Minister of Defense, Bogie Ya’alon, both of the Likud Party, and the Education Minister, Naftali Bennett, the leader of the Jewish Home Party. Bennett, a wildly ambitious Rightist, makes no secret of his intention to replace Netanyahu as soon as possible.
The kind of language used by the two parties would be considered extreme even if used between the coalition and the opposition. Between partners of the coalition government it is, to put it mildly, rather unusual, even in Israel.
In between stands (or rather sits) the present army Chief of Staff, Gadi Eizenkot, son of immigrants from Morocco in spite of his German-sounding name. In Israel, curiously enough, the army chiefs are generally more moderate than the politicians. The general proposed ameliorating the conditions of the Arab population in the occupied territories, such as allowing the people in Gaza to build a harbor and come into contact with the world at large. Amazing.
Europe in Crisis: Calas on Lockdown after migrants storm a UK bound ferry ~ link ~
Coinciding with UK's Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn's arrival at the French refugee camps, Sky News reports the port of Calais has been temporarily closed as 100s of migrants stormed on to a ship in the hope of reaching the UK. About 50 migrants are thought to have made their way on to a P&O-operated vessel called Spirit of Britain, and police are at the scene and have reportedly deployed water cannons to break up the crowds of protesters.
DFDS Seaways tweeted: "The Port of Calais has been temporarily closed due to a migrant invasion, as soon as they are cleared the Port will re-open."
Emancipating the Military and Containing the Citizenry ~ link ~
Those who try to understand military policy often confuse themselves by focusing on minor matters such as strategy, tactics, logistics, and armament. Here they err. For years the central goal of the military, the brass ring, has been independence from control by civilians. It has been achieved.
I’ve always assumed that Putin’s KGB (now called the FSB) killed Alexander Litvinenko.
But today’s announcement by the British that Putin “probably” approved Litvinenko’s murder made me curious enough to take a look for myself.
Initially, Litvinenko was poisoned with radioactive polonium as he sipped tea in an upscale London hotel. The report makes it sound like only Russia had access to polonium, but it’s actually available online to anyone.
The Bursting of the Bond Bubble Has Begun Part 3 ~ link ~
In 2008 the bond bubble was $80 trillion in size. Today it’s $100 trillion. Put simply, the financial system is even more leveraged today than it was in 2008.
And the bond bubble just burst.
Today corporates are more leveraged than they were in 2007. Thus, the Bond Bubble not only encapsulates sovereign nations, but even individual companies. And now that bubble is bursting.

Hillary the Spy?!! ~ link ~ A sane rational nation, which America is no longer, would have convicted Bill on the Impeachment and would have thrown both Bill and Hillary into prison for the rest of their rotten lives!!! Do take the time to read all of this one at the link. Stirling
Back in 1996, when Bill Clinton was running for re-election, he authorized the transfer of highly sensitive technology to China. This technology had military applications and allowed China to close the gap in missile performance with the United States. The transfers were opposed and severely criticized by the Defense Department.
At the same time Bill Clinton was transferring this technology to China, huge donations began to pour into his re-election campaign from the US companies allowed to sell the technology to China, and from American citizens of Chinese descent. The fact that they were US citizens allowed them to donate to political campaigns, but it later emerged that they were acting as conduits for cash coming in from Asian sources, including Chinese Intelligence Agencies! The scandal eventually became known as China-gate!
This is a perfect setup to repeat the 1996 selling of secrets for cash. In other words, a perfect espionage operation, running out the US State Department, with the weak email server providing the secrets and a charitable foundation to accept and launder the payments! Hillary doesn't have to physically steal the files, the way Jonathan Pollard did. Hillary doesn't have to scratch an X on a mailbox, the way Aldrich Ames did. Hillary doesn't have to tape bundles of stolen documents underneath a park bridge, like Robert Hannsen did!
