On the Road to the Third World War

Tuesday: Obama has ordered the USS Lassen, a guided missile destroyer, to sail inside of the 12-nautical mile zones of two Chinese man-made islands in the South China Sea ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ I have to tell you that I believe China to be the 'bad guy' here.  There are multiple claims by several nations to the tiny islands and reefs in the South China Sea.  China spending enormous sums to build military bases on these reefs does not make it right.  One policy of America, that goes back to the late 1700s is that the US Navy WILL DEFEND America's right of Freedom of Navigation on the High Seas. China reminds me of the Japanese Empire in the 1930s, having gotten too big for its britches, it is now pushing its weight around in Asia.  This could blow over, or begin a nasty limited regional war with a global economic crash, or begin WWIII. Watch this one carefully!!!   Stirling

For anyone who might still be somehow unaware, the US is currently in a superpower staring match with both Russia and China. The conflict in Syria has put Moscow back on the geopolitical map (so to speak), creating an enormous amount of tension with Washington whose regional allies have been left to look on in horror as Russian airstrikes and an Iranian ground incursion dash hopes of ousting President Bashar al-Assad.

Meanwhile, in The South China Sea, Beijing has built 3,000 acres of new sovereign territory atop reefs in the Spratlys and although the reclamation effort itself isn’t unique, the scope of it most certainly is and Washington’s friends in the South Pacific are crying foul.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but this borders on the insane. Here we have both Washington and Beijing risking an outright military confrontation over what amount to a couple of sandcastles and while there's probably some truth to the contention that China has plans for the islands that go beyond growing plants, building lighthouses, and raising pigs, it's not as though the PLA is going to invade The Philippines so at the end of the day, this looks like another example of what Vladimir Putin recently suggested is evidence that the world is losing its collective mind.

Europe in Crisis: 'We're Under Water' - Germany show signs of strain from the mass of "refugees" ~ link ~ Take a minute to read this one at the link.  Stirling

The unceasing influx of refugees is creating tremendous uncertainty in Germany. Many towns and cities are calling for help and the government appears to be rudderless. Pressure is mounting for Chancellor Angela Merkel to act.

US-led coalition has lots to hide in Syria ~ link

Incredible as it may seem, the incident remained largely neglected by US mainstream media sources. There is another story, “even more curious and telling than the others,” that was not reported either. Duff narrated that Russians discovered a “mysterious bombed area” located in Syria in close proximity to the Jordanian border.
There is an area where no one has ‘officially’ bombed, not the Americans, not the Russians or the Syrians either but an area that had been bombed, just the same, not once but dozens, perhaps hundreds of times, abandoned villages bombed over and over according to the Russian commander, ‘as though someone had nothing else to do’,” the US Marine combat veteran underscored.
“You know, many had wondered how, after 6,000 American ‘sorties’ flown against ISIS, so little damage was done? Were they all flown against ‘nowhere’ because ‘someone had nothing else to do?'” Duff asked.

Europe in Crisis: Syrian refugees - real Syrians not the economic refuges from lots of other Muslim countries - are returning home ~ link

Syria's Grand Mufti Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun said over 800,000 refugees have returned since Russian airstrikes against terrorist targets in Syria began on September 30.

The operation has also given refugees from the conflict hope that peace would return, according to interviews AP conducted around the Aleppo province, a hub for refugees leaving Syria.

Erdogan: Turkey will NOT allow Kurds to 'seize' northern Syria ~ link ~ Erdogan is a dangerous man who is almost as much a danger as Netanyahu!!!  Stirling

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan accused Kurdish groups on Saturday of trying to grab control of northern Syria, and said Ankara would not allow this to happen.
In a speech in southeast Turkey, Erdogan denounced the merging of the Syrian town of Tel Abyad last week into an autonomous political structure created by the Kurds.
Because this constitutes a threat for us, and it is not possible for us as Turkey to say 'yes' to this threat."
