According to reports, the Saudi air strikes targeted the ministry’s headquarters in central Sana’a on Thursday, causing three massive explosions at the site.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has attacked the air strikes by the Saudi-led coalition against Houthi rebels in Yemen, saying the operation which has caused civilian deaths amounts to genocide. “The aggression by Saudi Arabia against Yemen and its innocent people was a mistake,” Khamenei said in a speech on Iranian TV. “This is a crime and genocide that can be prosecuted in the international courts.”
The Supreme Leader stressed that Saudi Arabia and its allies will never achieve victory in the conflict with Houthi fighters, who took control of Yemen’s capital Sana’a in 2014 and are now on the offensive in the southern part of the country.

Senior Iraqi officials have repeatedly criticized Washington for delaying the delivery of US F-16 jets purchased by Baghdad. They said the ISIL and al-Qaeda-linked militants’ advance could have been avoided if US jets had been delivered on time.
ISIL launched an offensive in Iraq in June last year and took control of Mosul and Tikrit before sweeping through parts of the country’s heartland. On March 31, units of government forces, backed by volunteer forces, managed to retake control of Tikrit after heavy battles with ISIL. A local source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said ISIL members executed the victims in Hammam al-Alil area, located some 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) south of Mosul, on Wednesday after the men refused to treat the wounded members of the terrorist outfit, Iraq’s al-Sumaria satellite TV network reported.
Local official Mowaffaq Hamid al-Azawi has described Mosul as a big open-air prison, where residents are subjected to various kinds of torture and are suffering at the hands of ISIL. He added that some scholars in the city even distort religious principles to serve ISIL’s interests.
Meanwhile, ISIL extremists have executed more than 60 members of al-Karableh, Albu Ubaid, Albu Mahal and Albu Salman tribes in the western sector of al-Anbar Province, on the alleged ground that they were in collaboration with Iraqi security forces.

Russian military forces have carried out military exercises in an area in Moldova near Ukraine. Russian news agencies on Thursday quoted an army representative as saying that 400 troops and 30 pieces of weaponry were involved in the drill in Trans-Dniester, a narrow strip of land squeezed between Moldova and Ukraine.
Army spokesman Oleg Kochetkov said that troops used 100,000 rounds of ammunition during the drill, which involved armored personnel vehicles and grenade launchers.
