LAX Computer Attack shuts down outbound LAX traffic and causes chaos across America ~ link ~ I am calling this an 'Computer Attack', not an 'outage'.  Considering the global military situation and the fact that this 'outage' is very big and unusual to say the least, this is most likely either: A warning shot; a test shot; a False Flag event.  Stirling

EU states strike lucrative military contracts with China ~ link ~ Europe is powering the military rise of China, approving multi-million dollar deals for the transfer of weapons and dual-use technology – despite an arms embargo stemming from the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown, AFP reveals.

China is the world’s second largest military spender and the fastest growing military market, with Beijing setting aside $132 billion in defense spending. “Nothing has been done on behalf of Kiev’s authorities to implement the Geneva document. Our Western colleagues, primarily the Americans – who now have an unprecedented influence over Kiev – could not or did not want to convince Kiev to fulfill its obligations under the Geneva agreement,” Churkin said during the UN Security Council meeting in New York on Tuesday.

Here's a Chart you won't see on CNBC  ~ link ~ "Record corporate cash"..."Record corporate cash"... "Record corporate cash"  That pretty much covers most of the conversation on prime time financial media and TV stations when discussing corporate balance sheets.

There is, however, one big problem with that mantra. As Zero Hedge first showed in January with "Corporations Have Record Cash: They Also Have Record-er Debt, As Net Leverage Soars 15% Above Its 2008 Peak" companies indeed have tons of cash. What isn't discussed is where that cash came from. The answer: debt. Because while companies have record cash, they have recorder-er debt.

If it wasn't for Obamacare, Q1 GDP WOULD BE NEGATIVE ~ link ~ Here is a shocker: for all the damnation Obamacare, which according to poll after poll is loathed by a majority of the US population, has gotten if it wasn't for the (government-mandated) spending surge resulting from Obamacare, which resulted in the biggest jump in Healthcare Services spending in the past quarter in history and added 1.1% to GDP real Q1 GDP (in chained 2009 dollars), which rose only $4.3 billion sequentially to $15,947 billion, would have been a negative 1.0%

Ukraine Crisis: Who will blink first, Putin or the 'West' ~ link ~ Russia's seizure of Crimea last month may have unfolded with a lightning quickness, but Vladimir Putin and the West are now engaged in a much slower match of wits on a chessboard stretching across most of eastern Ukraine.
Rather than going for checkmate, both sides now seem content to wait for the other to make a mistake. Putin made a strong first move by placing 40,000 troops on the border -- and separatists, who are not officially linked to Russia, on the ground in Ukraine.

Now Moscow is waiting for the pro-Western government in Kiev to try to retake the parts of the east it has seemingly lost. In Russia's eyes, any such move from the capital would legitimize an overwhelming counterattack -- a re-run of the Georgia crisis in 2008, when President Mikheil Saakashvili lost his nerve, shot first, and prompted a Russian invasion.

Pro-Russia activists take Luhansk offices ~ link ~ Also see ~ link ~ They seized the regional government's headquarters and prosecutor's office before attacking the police station, reportedly with automatic rifles. Interim President Olexander Turchynov criticised local police for their "inaction" and "criminal treachery".

The US accused Russia of seeking to "change the security landscape" of Eastern and Central Europe. In a speech at the Atlantic Council in Washington, Secretary of State John Kerry told the Kremlin to "leave Ukraine in peace" and warned: "Nato territory is inviolable we will defend every single inch of it.

Ukraine Crisis continues to worsen ~ link ~ The day began with the police station and administration building  Konstantinovska being  overrun; next the airport at Kramatorsk was attacked with rocket propelled grenades and then the mayor of Kharkiv was shot in the back. It ended in a vicious ambush on a demonstration in Donetsk. While America and the European Union impose new sanctions on Russia, violence and turmoil continues unabated in  eastern Ukraine.

The attempted murder of Gennady Kernes, the mayor of the country’s second-largest city, raised fears that prominent public figures were being targeted for assassination. Last night he was “fighting for his life”, said his spokesman, after emergency surgery, with blame for the shooting leveled at both the Kremlin and extreme right wing groups.

Eastern Ukraine slips further into all-out chaos as violence flares and mayor shot ~ link ~ The mayor of Ukraine's second largest city was fighting for his life on Monday after an assassination attempt in broad daylight and an eruption of street violence in Donetsk dragged the east of the country further into chaos.

Canada deploys C-18 fighter jets to Romania for east European air patrols ~ link ~ Six Canadian CF-18 fighter jets left for Romania Tuesday to take part in increased NATO patrols over Eastern Europe amid rising tensions with Russia over Ukraine.

The multi-role military aircraft took off from their base in Bagotville, Quebec, at 9 a.m. local time (1300 GMT) as Canadian Defense Minister Rob Nicholson looked on.

Russia alarmed over US/NATO military moves ~ link ~
Moscow has voiced concern over an "unprecedented" increase in US and Nato military activity near Russian borders, amid an escalating crisis in Ukraine.

Russia's defence minister condemned "provocative" US and Nato comments.

Isolated Russia makes friends: Will hold military drill with China; Strikes multi-billion deals with Qatar and Iran ~ link ~ The G-8 may be no more as the G-7 throws every possible case of harsh language known to man at the Kremlin, which obstinately refuses to back down, while re-escalating sanctions against a Russia which merely has done what the US does every single time its national interest abroad is threatened, but one thing is becoming ever clearer: while the west isolates Russia with ever stricter measures, Russia has decided to make some new friends.

China slams America over Russian sanctions: Warns it 'will escalate tensions' ~ link ~ Having previously called Russia a "good neighbor, good partner, and good friend," it seems increasingly clear that the West faces not just Russia but China too as it brings more sanctions to bear.

China criticizes US sanctions against Russia ~ link ~ Beijing announced its support for a beleaguered Moscow after the US and Canada announced fresh sanctions against Russia for it’s alleged “inaction” in easing tensions in Ukraine.

In a public signal of increasing Sino-Russian cooperation, China called on all parties to resolve the Ukrainian crisis through dialogue rather than sanctions, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said Monday.

Washington and EU impose new sanctions on Russia ~ link ~ Washington and the European Union (EU) imposed a new round of sanctions on Russian firms and business and political leaders, as violence mounted across eastern Ukraine between pro-Russian protesters and supporters of the Western-backed regime in Kiev.

The sanctions are part of an escalating conflict between Russia and the Western imperialist powers triggered by the February 22 fascist-led putsch that installed the current regime in Kiev. The world is teetering on the brink of war as the government in Kiev launches a US-backed crackdown on eastern Ukraine protests and Russia threatens to intervene militarily to defend ethnic Russians. The latest round of sanctions are escalating these tensions and threatening to provoke a trade war.

Violence flairs in the Ukraine as crisis deepens ~ link ~ Fresh violence erupted in eastern Ukraine Tuesday as thousands of pro-Russian protesters stormed key buildings, escalating the crisis after Moscow hit back at "Iron Curtain"-style Western sanctions.

A mob spearheaded by around 30 men carrying Kalashnikov assault rifles and grenade-launchers attacked the regional police headquarters in the eastern city of Lugansk, raising the heat in the worst East-West confrontation since the Cold War.

Seven feared dead in eastern Siberia after munitions depot explosions ~ link ~ An accident???  Stirling

17 people have so far requested medical help. Earlier, a health ministry representative confirmed to the RIA Novosti news agency that 10 people were injured, with one of them being in a critical condition.About 400 people have been evacuated from nearby towns and villages.

There were reportedly about 20 explosions at the ammunitions depot after a fire in a nearby forest reached it, the Interfax news agency reported earlier, citing sources in law enforcement.

UK and France deploy 8 fighter jets to Poland and Lithuania ~ link ~ The British Typhoons and the French Rafales, which are the planes being deployed, are 4.5 Generation fighters, among the very best on Earth.  Stirling

Russia urgently assembles Medical Brigades for Ukraine invasion ~ link ~ It is not clear if these units have already been deployed, but the report indicates that there is a high level of urgency associated with the request to assemble the brigades and prepare them specifically for a confrontation in the Ukraine.

Coupled with some 150,000 troops from Russia and Ukraine massing at the border, it looks as if the Russians may be preparing for an imminent strike and are now awaiting an order from President Vladimir Putin, who according to RussianNavyBlog has spent time consulting with his spiritual adviser over the last two days.

Former Congressman Ron Paul: US sanctions against Russia are an Act of War ~ link ~ Former GOP congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul says US sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine crisis are an act of war, adding that the American people are tired of US-imposed wars. When you block the trade of goods and services with a particular country, it may not be quite as bad as dropping bombs, but it is a “symbol of a war,” Paul told Britain’s Channel 4 News on Monday.

The American people want no part of a conflict with Russia, just as they wanted no part in a war against Syria last summer, but the US administration is still “playing games” by threatening Russia and adding sanctions, Paul added.

Russia says US astronauts could be hurt by sanctions as Ukrainian violence flairs ~ link ~ Moscow reacted with fury to the inclusion in the sanctions of high-tech exports to Russia and threatened reprisals. "If their aim is to deliver a blow to Russia's rocket-building sector, then by default, they would be exposing their astronauts on the ISS," Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said, according to the Interfax news agency. "Sanctions are always a boomerang which come back and painfully hit those who launched them," added Rogozin on a visit to Crimea, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in March.

US neocons 'accelerated' crisis with the Ukraine ~ link
The neoconservatives in the Obama administration “artificially accelerated the crisis” in Ukraine by supporting an illegal coup d'état that neo-Nazis and xenophobic elements carried out, a peace activist in Washington says.

“I believe the US government accelerated and artificially created this crisis,” said Brian Becker, the national coordinator for the ANSWER Coalition, a US-based protest umbrella group consisting of many antiwar and civil rights organizations.

“The US government having created a sort of chaotic situation has to blame someone, so they’re blaming the Putin government, they’re pointing the finger at the government in Moscow,” Becker told Press TV in a phone interview on Tuesday.

"Stealth" F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jet can't evade Russian radar ~ link ~ This way overpriced fighter has a number of problems including the radar signature!  Stirling

“The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter... is not, in fact, stealthy in the eyes of a growing number of Russian and Chinese radars,” the Aviation Week said. It said the jet, which the Pentagon hopes would be stealthy, is “having all sorts of shortcomings.”
The report said the jet is not even effective in “jamming enemy radar”, adding the US Defense Department is spending “hundreds of billions of dollars” for a “fighter that will need the help of specialized jamming aircraft.”
It said the F-35 is even “susceptible to detection by radars operating in the VHF bands of the spectrum.” The report said Russian armed forces have been armed with a “highly counterstealth radar system” – unveiled at an air show near Moscow last August – that is able to “track small targets once the VHF radar has detected them.”

Speculation about the US fighter comes at a time US President Barack Obama is apparently set to turn the ongoing crisis in Ukraine into a war with Russia.

Russia: We will retaliate against Japanese sanctions ~ link"The decision of Tokyo to introduce visa sanctions against a number of Russian citizens was perceived by Moscow with disappointment and, certainly will not go unanswered. This clumsy step was obviously taken under foreign influence and directly opposite to statements by Tokyo on the importance of the development of relations with Russia," Lukashevich said on Tuesday.

He underlined that the language of sanctions would be counterproductive and does not help deescalate the tumult in Ukraine, adding, "The participation of Japan in the attempts of exercising pressure can no way allow the easing of the tension in Ukraine."

Salmond: Agree to Scottish EU membership or face bands ~ link Scotland first minister has warned that a dozen of European countries could be barred from Scottish waters if an independent Scotland is refused European Union membership.

The independence referendum, due to be held on September 18, could result in Scotland’s break-up from the UK after more than 300 years of political union.

The Real Unemployment Rate: In 20% of American families EVERYONE is Unemployed ~ link ~ According to shocking new numbers that were just released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 20 percent of American families do not have a single person that is working.  So when someone tries to tell you that the unemployment rate in the United States is about 7 percent, you should just laugh.  One-fifth of the families in the entire country do not have a single member with a job.  That is absolutely astonishing.  How can a family survive if nobody is making any money?  Well, the answer to that question is actually quite easy.  There is a reason why government dependence has reached epidemic levels in the United States.  Without enough jobs, tens of millions of additional Americans have been forced to reach out to the government for help.  At this point, if you can believe it, the number of Americans getting money or benefits from the federal government each month exceeds the number of full-time workers in the private sector by more than 60 million.
