Nine killed as powerful blast hits Iraqi capital Baghdad ~ link ~

At least nine people have been killed in a blast in Iraq’s capital, Baghdad, as the army slows down the advances of militants.
Reports from the capital say 23 police and medical staffers were also injured in the explosion.

Reports coming out of Iraq suggest that security forces in the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region are now in control of Rabia, a border crossing town, following deadly clashes with militants from the ISIL there.

Iraqi Conflict: ISIS push on Baghdad "halted" ~ link ~

Iraqi government forces, backed by Shia Muslim and Kurdish militias, are reportedly holding back an advance by Sunni militants north of Baghdad. A number of towns have been retaken from the rebels, but they still control the key cities of Tikrit and Mosul.

Reports speak of heavy clashes round the city of Tal Afar, west of Mosul, with mortar shelling of some districts.

ISIS insurgent advance slows, US sends supercarrier battle group to the Gulf ~ link
An offensive by insurgents that threatens to dismember Iraq seemed to slow on Saturday after days of lightning advances as government forces regained some territory in counterattacks, easing pressure on the Shi’ite-led government in Baghdad.

US war hawks push for another Iraq War but the Rule of Law prevents it ~ link

The same people who got the US into the mistaken Iraq War are now urging President Obama to use military force in Iraq again. Republican hawks are using the violence in Iraq as a political tool that is escalating pressure for US military intervention. But, if the US follows the rule of law — both US and international law — the president does not have the authority to attack Iraq without Congressional and UN authorization.

John McMain went roaring onto the Senate floor “calling on the entire Obama administration national security team to resign.” McCain urged immediate action saying “Every hour the options become fewer and fewer as ISIS, the most radical terrorist group alive, sweeps across Iraq.” On the House side, John Boehner mocked: ““What’s the president doing? Taking a nap?”

Syrian Army recaptures strategic town near Turkish border ~ link ~ The ISIS drive on Baghdad is Plan E after the Russian blocked failure to attack Iran a year and a half ago, and the Russian blocked failure to attack Syria a year ago, the failure of the foreign mercenaries to defeat the Syrian Army, the failure of Putin to step into the bear-trap set for him in the Ukraine, all connected with starting a General Middle East War and World War III.  Stirling

Ukrainian Junta Foreign Minister chants "Putin-fu*ker" at vandalized Russian Embassy in Kiev ~ link ~ If ever there was proof that the US installed Globalist/Zionist/fascist coup junta is NOT up to normal human standards of behavior this is it.  Stirling

In an incident that may be a first in diplomatic history, Kiev’s top diplomat publicly ‘effed’ the head of another state. Foreign Minister Andrey Deshchitsa chanted “Putin’s a f**ker” with a cheering crowd that earlier vandalized the Russian embassy.

Deshchitsa arrived at the scene of the heated protest - which involved overturning cars belonging to embassy staff, the desecration of a Russian flag and pelting the building with firecrackers and paint - in an apparent attempt to defuse the crowd.
He confronted some of the protesters - or rather sided with them. Footage of the encounter shows the minister saying he is all for the protest and its goals.
“I would stand up here with you can say, Russia, get out of Ukraine,” he said. “Putin’s a f**ker, right!”

Nurse killed as Ukraine junta's army shells hit Slavyansk hospitals ~ link ~ After this is all over, there should be some international arrest warrants out for junta leaders for War Crimes.  Stirling
