Ukraine junta to create humanitarian corridors in the east ~ link ~ Don't "hold your breath" waiting for this to actually happen.  They are the bastards that are shelling and bombing innocent civilians in the first place.  Stirling

The move to create corridors meets one of Russia's main demands.

But Mr Poroshenko has still not accepted the Kremlin's request to allow Russian aid into the east - a move that Kiev fears could be used to arm the rebels.

Russia begins large military maneuvers to counter NATO war games ~ link ~ So both NATO and Russia are engaging in large military maneuvers at the same time and in relatively close proximity to each other.  At the best this is dangerous and ill advised but not apt to "go hot"; at the worst, this will "go hot" and begin WWIII.  Stirling

Russia launches Baltic drills alongside NATO 'Saber Strike' war games ~ link

The Baltic Sea and skies are getting crowded as Russia launches military training of its assault forces in the exclave of Kaliningrad in answer to the double war-games being conducted by joint NATO forces on the territory of the three Baltic States.

NATO’s decision to conduct dual war games next to Russian borders in the Baltic has not been left unaddressed by Russia’s Defense Ministry, which prepared a surprise training of first strike forces – marines, paratroopers and long-range bombers - right in the backyard of the NATO military maneuvers. “We conduct military training simultaneously with the international war games that have started in Europe, Saber Strike-2014 and BALTOPS-2014,” said the ministry’s press service.

Baltic States: US cannon fodder against Russia ~ link

“They [Baltic countries] want to be cannon fodder in some type of future dispute or fight between Russia and the US,” Jim W. Dean told Press TV in an interview.
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) on Monday launched war games near Russia’s border as tensions rise between the West and Moscow over Ukraine.
The analyst stated that the Baltic countries should not have accepted to join the maneuvers “because with the NATO bases there if anything really started they would have to be taken out and destroyed right away.”
“You would think that the Baltic countries would be smart enough to figure this out, but obviously they haven’t [been so],” said Dean.

Tanks, troops and jets: NATO nations launch full-scale war games in the Baltic ~ link

A major military exercise kicked off in Latvia, with 10 NATO member countries participating. The war games involve 4,700 troops and 800 military vehicles. Russia sees NATO's military build-up as a sign of aggression.
The Saber Strike ground forces exercise is being conducted for the fourth time this year and coincides with Baltic Host 2014 and Baltops 2014 naval drills.
Troops from the US, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Norway and the UK are taking part.

"Don't Kill Us": Refugees from eastern Ukraine make a plea for their lives and peace - with video and photos ~ link
Refugees who fled the turmoil in Eastern Ukraine made a video plea, where they hold a poster with the hashtag #DontKillUs, urging the Kiev government to stop military assaults in the area.

Women and children that have been sheltered in a children’s summer camp Dmitriadovsky in Russia’s southern Rostov Oblast appear in the 5-minute video asking Ukraine’s newly elected President Petro Poroshenko to stop the killing and withdraw Ukrainian troops.

FM Lavrov: Russia won't sanction if Kiev junta signs EU deal ~ link ~
Russia doesn’t see any obstacles to Ukraine signing the economic part of the EU association agreement, said Russian FM Sergey Lavrov. He added that Moscow will not impose any sanctions and will return the trade regime with Kiev to ‘most-favored’ status.

“We don’t see any obstacles concerning this process [the EU association]. We cannot forbid anyone to cooperate with these international organizations in the sphere of economic cooperation,” he said following the trilateral meeting with his counterparts from Poland and Germany in Saint Petersburg on Tuesday.

Human Rights Watch: Israeli killing of Palestine teens an "apparent war crime" ~ link

The killing of two Palestinian teenagers by Israeli military forces on May 15 during a demonstration in the occupied West Bank might be a war crime, according to Human Rights Watch.

Muhammad Abu Thahr, 16, and Nadim Nuwara, 17, were both shot dead by Israeli troops as the pair protested the ongoing occupation of Palestinian lands. Video footage, photographs, witness statements, and medical records indicate that Israeli military forces used live ammunition against the boys and 15-year-old Mohammed Azza, who was seriously wounded in the incident, Human Rights Watch said in a report, entitled ‘Killing of Children, Apparent War Crime,’ released Monday.
