Police crackdown on Turkish protesters ~ link ~ Police have staged a crackdown on protesters who took to the streets in Istanbul on Dec. 27 to denounce the corruption and bribery allegations against the government over a graft probe that has shaken the country since last week.

In scenes that were reminiscent of the nationwide Gezi protests, riot police fired tear gas and water cannon against a group of protesters who were attempting to gather on Istanbul’s iconic ─░stiklal Avenue and near the German Hospital in Cihangir, both in central Beyo─člu.

Clashes across Egypt leave three dead ~ link ~ Muslim Brotherhood supporters and police clashed across Egypt on Friday, leaving at least three dead in protests after the army-backed government declared the group a 'terrorist organization.' Violence broke out after Friday prayers.
An 18-year-old Brotherhood supporter was shot dead during clashes in the Nile Delta city of Damietta. Another man was killed in Minya, a bastion of Islamist support south of Cairo. A third person was killed in Cairo, the interior ministry said, without giving details.

Hundreds of teens terrorized a Brooklyn mall Thursday during an attack organized on social media, forcing it to close its doors for hours during crucial day after Christmas sales.

More than 400 teens swarmed Kings Plaza Mall, in Southern Brooklyn, trashing stores, assaulting shoppers and stealing things after a t-shirt insulting a high school student sparked anger among classmates.

Anger was growing last night as tens of thousands of homes faced a fourth night without power. Vast swathes of the country have been left in desperate conditions during the Christmas period after bad weather knocked out power supplies.

As a second major storm battered the UK, Prime Minister David Cameron was heckled by flood victims who berated him for how long they have had to cope without electricity.
According to the Energy Networks Association, more than 13,000 homes have been without power since high winds and heavy rain caused chaos on Christmas Eve.
