Kerry says UN must act on Syria next week ~ link ~ The top US diplomat, who will join world leaders for the annual UN General Assembly in New York on Sunday, once again accused the Syrian government of using chemical weapons in a deadly attack last month.

"I would say to the community of nations, time is short. Let's not spend time debating what we already know," Kerry said.

"Instead, we have to recognize that the world is watching to see whether we can avert military action and achieve through peaceful means" the destruction of Syria's chemical weapons stockpile, he added.

"The complete removal of Syria's chemical weapons is possible here, through peaceful means," Kerry said.

Meanwhile, Damascus plans to make a full declaration of its chemical arms stocks by this weekend under a deal with Russia to put the weapons under international control with the goal of destroying them by mid-2014.

During a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Thursday, Kerry called on China, which is one of the five permanent members of the Security Council, to play a positive role regarding Syria.

"With negotiations ongoing at the Security Council, we look forward to China playing a positive, constructive, important role," Kerry told his Chinese counterpart.

The agreement between the US and Russia to put Syria’s chemical weapons under international control has for now cooled off the war rhetoric in the region.

Israel’s Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Weapons Threaten World Peace ~ link ~ Syria threatens no one. It hasn’t used chemical weapons against insurgents or its own civilians. Claims otherwise are fabricated.

In contrast, Israel is nuclear armed and dangerous. It maintains large chemical and biological weapons arsenals.  More on that below. In 1986, Dimona nuclear technician/heroic whistleblower Mordechai Vananu revealed important documents, photos, and other scientific evidence. They proved Israel began producing atomic weapons since at least the 1960s. Years later, thermonuclear warheads were manufactured.

Israel Pushing US into World War  - with video ~ link ~ “Their policies have morphed into something far more severe, a regional chaos at the risk of a world war. They are pushing the United States into a direct military confrontation with Russia.”

Chemical attack near Syrian capital smart provocation: Putin ~ link ~ “We have every ground to believe that it was a provocation. Of course, it was adroit and smart, but, at the same time, primitive in terms of technical performance,” said Putin during a Thursday meeting with Western politicians and journalists in Russia’s northwestern Novgorod region.

The fatal attack reportedly took place on the outskirts of Damascus on August 21. The US and its allies accuse the Syrian government of being behind the incident, while Syria and Russia maintain that Takfiri groups operating in the country staged the attack to incriminate President Bashar al-Assad.

The Russian leader further said Moscow is confident that the Syrian government will fulfill its commitments to destroy its chemical weapons under the recent Russia-US agreement.

Earlier this month, US Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, reached an agreement on a framework that will see the elimination of Syria’s chemical weapons by mid-2014.

The deal was reached after Russia offered Syria to place its chemical weapons arsenal under international supervision and the Syrian government accepted the proposal.

Putin went on to say, “So far, everything looks as if Syria has fully agreed with our proposal and is ready to act according to the plan that is being developed by the international community at the United Nations.

On September 18, Assad said Damascus will destroy its chemical weapons arsenal, but the process will take a year and cost the Arab country a billion dollars.

Putin further rejected a military strike against Syria, stressing that such issues should be discussed at the UN Security Council rather than the US Congress.

“This would be a strike on the world order, not Syria,” he added.

US President Barack Obama, who sent the Congress a draft resolution for strike on Syria, has asked the body to delay a vote on authorizing military action against Syria in order to give the Russian proposal a chance to play out.

Anti-Assad Death Squads Responsible for Gas Attack ~ link ~ Clear evidence shows insurgents have sarin and other toxic chemicals. Pentagon contractors trained them in their handling and use.

They have surface-to-surface missiles to launch them. They have motive, opportunity and capability to do so. They’ve done it multiple times before. They’ve been caught red-handed with toxic agents.

Russia challenges UN report on Syrian gas attack ~ link ~ Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov yesterday countered a barrage of claims by the US and its allies that the UN report into the August 21 chemical weapon attack in Syria proved that the government of President Bashar al-Assad was responsible.

Lavrov described the report as one-sided and biased, claiming that ample evidence pointed to the involvement of anti-Assad forces in chemical attacks. He said he would provide evidence to the UN Security Council demonstrating that Syrian opposition militias had carried out the attack in Ghouta on the outskirts of Damascus.

Janet Yellen: What A Horrifying Choice For Fed Chairman She Would Be ~ link ~ Are you ready for Janet Yellen?  Wall Street wants her, the mainstream media wants her and it appears that her confirmation would be a slam dunk.  She would be the first woman ever to chair the Federal Reserve, and her philosophy is that a little bit of inflation is actually good for an economy.  She was reportedly the architect for many of the unprecedented monetary decisions that Ben Bernanke made during his tenure, and that has many on Wall Street and in the media very excited.  Noting that we "already know that Yellen is on board with Bernanke's easy money policies", CNN recently even went so far as to publish a rabidly pro-Yellen article with this stunning headline: "Dear Mr. President: Name Yellen now!"  But after watching what a disaster Bernanke has been, do we really want more of the same?  It doesn't really matter whether she is a woman, a man, a giant lizard or a robot, the question is whether or not she is going to continue to take us down the path to ruin that Bernanke has taken us.  As I have written about so many times, the Federal Reserve is at the very heart of our economic problems, and under Bernanke the Fed has created a mammoth financial bubble unlike anything that we have ever seen before.  If Yellen keeps us going down that road, financial disaster is inevitable.

Druckenmiller Blasts "The Biggest Redistribution Of Wealth From The Poor To The Rich Ever" ~ link ~ Reflecting on exactly what was said yesterday, Duquesne's Stanley Druckenmiller is initially perplexed as Bernanke explained 'financial conditions' - not interest rates - have prompted the decision to forestall any taper. His confusion is that financial conditions are actually slightly better than they were in June and "a stock market at an all-time high would suggest we don't have a problem with financial conditions." While he dismisses surveys, the big-money was betting that they were going to taper as is clear from the moves in gold, bonds, and stocks; and it appears the Fed "lost their nerve." In fact, Druck continues, the Fed "blew it... they had a freebie," they could have started the process to "get us off the dope." This action, or inaction, he warns "is going to make it so much harder for the next Chairman to start the process." In fact, he concludes, that from beginning to end - once markets adjust from these subsidized prices - that the wealth effect of QE will have been negative not positive.

His discussion focuses on the transparency mistakes, the cornering they have managed, and the concerns he has over QE in general...

Wall Street celebrates Fed decision to maintain pace of money-printing ~ link ~ In a surprise move that sent the US stock market surging upwards, the Federal Reserve Board on Wednesday decided to continue for the present its policy of buying $85 billion a month in Treasury notes and mortgage bonds.

Median Household Income Has Fallen For FIVE YEARS IN A ROW ~ link ~ If the economy is getting better, then why do incomes keep falling?  According to a shocking new report that was just released by the U.S. Census Bureau, median household income (adjusted for inflation) has declined for five years in a row.  This has happened even though the federal government has been borrowing and spending money at an unprecedented rate and the Federal Reserve has been on the most reckless money printing spree in U.S. history.  Despite all of the "emergency measures" that have been taken to "stimulate the economy", things just continue to get worse for average American families.  Americans are working harder than ever, but their paychecks are not reflecting that.  Meanwhile, the cost of everything just keeps going up.  The Federal Reserve insists that inflation is "low", but anyone that goes grocery shopping or that stops at a gas station knows that is a lie.  In fact, if inflation was calculated the exact same way that it was calculated back in 1980, the inflation rate would be somewhere between 8 and 10 percent right now.  Paychecks are being stretched more than ever before, and that is probably the reason why about three-fourths of the entire country is living paycheck to paycheck at this point.

According to the Census report, the high point for median household income in the United States was back in 1999 ($56,080).  It almost got back to that level in 2007 ($55,627), but ever since then there has been a steady decline.  The following figures come directly from the report, and as you can see, median household income has fallen every single year for the past five years...

The Percentage Of Americans That Consider Themselves To Be “Lower Class” Is At An All-Time High ~ link ~ Do you consider yourself to be "lower class"?  Most Americans wouldn't dream of thinking that way.  Even at the toughest times of my own life, I always considered myself to be "middle class".  Traditionally, the vast majority of Americans have described themselves as either "middle class" or "working class", but now we are witnessing a huge shift.  According to survey results that were just released, the percentage of Americans that identify themselves as "lower class" is now at an all-time high.  It is still only 8.4 percent of the country, but the fact that this number is rapidly growing shows that something is changing on a very fundamental level.  In America today, less people than ever believe that they have the opportunity to make a better life for themselves, and according to a brand new Gallup poll that was just released, 20 percent of all Americans did not have enough money to buy food that they or their families needed at some point over the past year.  We have 47 million people on food stamps and we have more than 100 million Americans enrolled in at least one welfare program, and that does not even count Social Security or Medicare.  We have gone from a "land of opportunity" to a land where tens of millions of people are being crushed by the system.

When I mentioned above that "less people then ever believe that they have the opportunity to make a better life for themselves", perhaps you doubted that statement. And I wish that it was not true.

The looting of America ~ link ~ Two reports issued this week—the US Census Bureau’s report on poverty and the Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest Americans—together provide a vivid exposure of a society in which the privileged few parasitically enrich themselves through the impoverishment of the great majority of the population.

While the Census report showed poverty at the highest level in decades and median household income falling sharply, the Forbes report shows an enormous growth in the wealth of the corporate and financial aristocracy.

House Votes To Taper Foodstamps ~ link ~ In a tight 217-210 vote, The House voted this evening to 'taper' food stamps by $39 billion over the next decade. This bill - setting up a showdown with Senate Democrats - cuts nearly twice as much as a bill that was rejected in June, and, as USA Today reports, dramatically larger than the $4.5 billion 'trim' that was passed by the Senate earlier in the year. The bill would cause 3 million people to lose benefits while another 850,000 would see their benefits cut, according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office.

Republicans argued that the bill would restore the program's original eligibility limits and preserve the safety net for the truly needy. The White House threatened Wednesday to veto the bill, calling food stamps one of the "nation's strongest defenses against hunger and poverty."

Europe To Change "Deficit Calculation" To Make Economy Appear Stronger ~ link ~ In a world in which when the numbers don't comply with the propaganda, the only recourse is to change the rules, and if that fails, change the numbers themselves (see Fukushima radiation count, US GDP, Employment numbers, anything out of Europe, etc.) it was only a matter of time before that last sticking point of the grand made up narrative, the lack of economic improvement in the European despite evil, evil austerity (which somehow has resulted in record debt which is rising faster than expected virtually everywhere in Europe) resulting in unpalatable deficits, was magically "fixed." This was resolved moments ago when as the AP reports, "European Union finance officials have reached a preliminary agreement to change the way the bloc determines some deficit figures, which might lessen the pressure for austerity measures in crisis-hit economies." In other words, Europe's "recovery" will now be based on even more made up numbers. One wonders: since Europe is finally admitting that the numbers are fake, i.e., lying, are things finally getting truly serious again?
