Large US Marine Corps ground force - part of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Force - deploying on the Jordanian - Syrian border ~ link ~ WWIII continues to get closer, day by day!!!   Stirling
Our sources disclose that this American force numbers 1,000 troops, the largest to land in Jordan since the Syrian civil war erupted in March 2012. They are members of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Force carried aboard the USS Kearsage amphibious assault ship, which has been anchored off neighboring Israeli Eilat since mid-May. Upon landing, the marines took to the road in a convoy of armored vehicles including Hummers.
Washington and Amman have imposed a blackout on their arrival. The Pentagon has only let it be known that the annual joint US-Jordanian “Eager Lion 2013” military exercise is due to begin later in June and last two months, with the participation of US F-16 fighter jets and Patriot missile defense systems.

Strikes spread with 2 killed in protests in Turkey ~ link ~ As public employees struck across Turkey Monday, a second major Turkish union federation called for its members to carry out a nationwide strike on June 5 in opposition to the police repression of peaceful protests by the government of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The death toll in the brutal crackdown rose to two Tuesday with the death of Abdullah Cömert, a 22-year-old member of the youth group of the opposition CHP (Republican People’s Party) who was killed in the southern city of Antakya, near the border with Syria. Initial reports suggested that he had been shot in the head, but an autopsy revealed that the fatal wound came from an exploding tear gas canister. Police have routinely fired these canisters at close range, aiming at the heads of demonstrators and in a number of cases causing fractured skulls and loss of eyes. Hürriyet Daily News reported that in his last posts on Facebook, Abullah Cömert had written that he had “escaped death” for a third time during the protests and, though he was tired, would be “on the streets for the revolution.” Thousands of people turned out for Cömert’s funeral, which was held on Tuesday.

Calm and Spreading Storm in Turkey ~ link ~ The relative quiet may continue or prove short-lived. There are some urgent grievances to be addressed, not limited to countless eyewitness claims that police had consistently fired tear gas canisters directly at protesters' heads. Two people died this way in just five days, and hundreds - including at least two journalists and an opposition member of parliament - were injured. These crowd-control casualties (except the ones from rubber-coated bullets) are comparable to those in protests in the West Bank, long a scene of intense demonstrations, over a period of seven years.

And while the show of solidarity and civic responsibility in Taksim suggested that the worst may be over for Istanbul, at least for now, several warning signs popped up. Particularly in Antakya, where a young man was killed by live police fire on Tuesday, the protests appeared to be taking an increasingly sectarian dimension, pitting Alevis against Sunnis. Though a large-scale spillover from the Syrian civil war into Turkey may not be imminent, it remains as a possibility.

Turkey protesters demand dismissal of police chiefs - with video ~ linkActivists in Turkey have demanded the sacking of police chiefs in Istanbul, Ankara and other cities over their forces' violent responses to protests. They also rejected an apology by Deputy PM Bulent Arinc, saying his remarks "were reminiscent of a civil war".
The crackdown on protests over the redevelopment of a park in Istanbul last week triggered nationwide unrest.
Thousands of striking workers have now joined demonstrations to demand Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan resign

Turkey trade unions join anti-government protests ~ link ~ On Wednesday, labor unions started a protest rally from Istanbul’s Sisli neighborhood towards the city’s iconic Taksim Square.

Since Friday, tens of thousands of anti-government demonstrations have been held in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Mugla, Antalya, and many other cities and towns.

Two major trade union confederations went on a two-day strike from Tuesday.

The strike, which involves 600,000 union members, is a major public support for the protesters who are standing their ground despite police harsh crackdown.

At least four people have been killed and more than a thousand injured since the beginning of anti-government protests in Turkey. Authorities say over 2,000 people have been also detained.

Israeli expert says military coup possible in Turkey ~ link ~ It has happened several times in the 20th Century.   Stirling

Et to, Gul? Then fall, Erdogan ~ link ~ Make no mistake, Turkey's unrest is not going to wither away. Gulen is making his epic move to bring about an "in-house" political coup within the AKP to bring Gul to the fore. Gulen has Washington's support for this "regime change" in Turkey. The Middle East situation has reached a criticality, and who rules Turkey becomes of seminal importance.

But will Erdogan walk into the sunset without a fight? Such meekness wouldn't be the hallmark of a sultan. Marc Champion, editor at Bloomberg, is spot on:

If the president is able to calm the protests before Erdogan returns in three days - as the prime minister says he hopes - Gul will get the credit. If Gul can create a new coalition across the opposition parties, he would be a great choice to lead them and would provide a good change for Turkey. But don't count on it ... Erdogan isn't just a political bruiser. He is a force of nature, and has a genius for turning events to his advantage. The party was built and succeeded around Erdogan's popular appeal, not Gul's. [3]
Meanwhile, the Syrian crisis has introduced another dimension into this. Gul is a protege of the Saudi royal family, whereas Erdogan shares the Qatari Emir's passion for the Muslim Brotherhood

Syria: UN report reveals "opposition" crimes against humanity as imperialist powers push for intervention ~ link ~ A United Nations (UN) report presented yesterday by the International Commission of Inquiry on Syria (ICIS) in Geneva sheds light on the increasing brutality of the Syrian war and its potential to trigger a major international crisis.

The contents of the report are a devastating indictment of the imperialist powers in the United States and Europe and their regional allies, who have fueled a sectarian-based civil war in Syria for more than two years to topple the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The Terrible Future of the Syrian War ~ link ~ The last war America fought openly through proxy was the Vietnam War. The idea was not necessarily “new”; General Smedley Butler’s exposé on his career as a conqueror-for-hire, titled War is a Racket, uncovered a long history of bloodshed by U.S. government and corporate interests in third world countries designed to destroy sovereign nations and plunder their resources. This was done through the use of mercenaries for hire, military men acting covertly or guerrilla forces with a pre-existing agenda supplied through back channels.

After our defeat in Vietnam, our government set forth on a program of private warfare.  The "School of the Americas" was formed, also known as the School of Assassins, in Fort Benning, Georgia.  The combat academy churned out some of the most unstable monsters in third world politics.  The U.S. trained and conditioned agents for violent social change and military overthrow, who were then implanted around the world (mostly in Central and South America).  These agents then initiated war fever in the name of cementing U.S. interests around the globe.  Their horrifying methods were seen as a means to an end.

The sad and disturbing reality is that most wars fought by our country over the course of the past century have not been fought on principle. Instead, they have been fought for profit and for the consolidation of power and oligarchy.

US steps ahead in race to disaster ~ link ~ For the first time in the history of the human species, we have clearly developed the capacity to destroy ourselves. That's been true since 1945. It's now being finally recognized that there are more long-term processes like environmental destruction leading in the same direction, maybe not to total destruction but at least to the destruction of the capacity for a decent existence.

And there are other dangers, like pandemics, which have to do with globalization and interaction. So there are processes underway and institutions right in place, like nuclear weapons systems, which could lead to a serious blow to, or maybe the termination of, an organized existence.

Russia to react as NATO nears its borders says PM ~ linkThe need for NATO is long gone, but the globalists want global war and for that they want alliances to ignite the entire World!!!   Stirling

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev says Moscow does not regard NATO’s expansion towards its borders as positive as Sweden and Finland are likely to join the western military coalition.

He said on Wednesday that Moscow would have to react to a possible change in the balance of forces in Europe if Sweden and Finland decide to enter NATO, Russia Today reported.

Crazy and Pretend Economic World - Cyprus was the Warning ~ link ~ The Japanese government spends 24% of its annual revenues on interest expense, but only because the average interest rate is quite low. If interest rates rise to 2.2%, their interest expense will consume 80% of the government revenues. Japan has been described as “a bug in search of a windshield.” Since their economy has a huge impact on the rest of the world, the inevitable disaster that results from crazy economics will not be pleasant for Japan or the rest of the world.  Abenomics (Japan) wants a 2% inflation rate but expects long-term (JGB) government bonds to yield only 1%. This seems like a disconnect in thinking that happens in a crazy world.

Unbacked paper money has always, throughout history, failed to maintain its value and eventually failed as a currency. Yet all modern countries use unbacked paper money. That is indeed crazy for all except bankers and politicians!

The Federal Reserve is annually creating “out of thin air” about $1,000,000,000,000 to purchase US Treasury debt and to buy toxic assets from bankers. If it sounds crazy, it probably is crazy.

Does China plan to back the Yuan with gold and make it the Primary Global Reserve ~ link ~ What in the world is China up to?  Why are the Chinese hoarding so much gold?  Does China plan to back the yuan with gold and turn it into a global reserve currency?  Could it be possible that China actually intends for the yuan to eventually replace the U.S. dollar as the primary reserve currency of the planet?  Most people in the western world assume that China just wants a "seat at the table" and is content to let the United States run the show.  But that isn't the case at all.  The truth is that China doesn't just want to compete with the United States.  Rather, China actually plans to replace the United States as the dominant economic power on the planet.  In fact, China already accounts for more global trade than the United States does.  So what would happen one day if China announced that it was backing the yuan with gold and that it would no longer be using the U.S. dollar in international trade?  It would cause a financial shift so cataclysmic that it is hard to even imagine.  Most of those that write about the "death of the U.S. dollar" usually fail to point out that China is holding a lot of the cards as far as the fate of the dollar is concerned.  China owns about a trillion dollars of our debt, China is the second largest economy on the planet, and nobody uses the dollar in international trade more than China does except for the United States.  Up until now, China has had to use the U.S. dollar in international trade because there has not been an attractive alternative.  But a gold-backed yuan would change all of that very rapidly.

And without a doubt, the Chinese government has already been very busy promoting the use of the yuan in international trade.  In a recent note, John McCormick of RBS Group stated the following...

22 Signs that Global Weather Patterns are going Absolutely Crazy ~ link ~ I predicted this two years ago!  Stirling

Global weather patterns seem to get stranger and stranger with each passing year.  Almost every day now, the news is telling us about some bizarre weather event that hasn’t happened “in 100 years” going on in some area of the globe.  All over the planet, we are seeing torrential rainfalls, unprecedented flooding, extreme drought, nightmarish wildfires, record setting tornadoes and very unusual blizzards.  Record high temperatures and record low temperatures are set so frequently now that nobody really seems to even notice anymore.  So exactly what in the world is going on here?  Why does our weather seem to be going absolutely crazy?  Perhaps even more important – can we expect our weather patterns to become even more erratic?  Some meteorologists are suggesting that these unusual weather events are just an “anomaly” and that things will get back to normal soon.  But what if they don’t?

I noted that natural disasters seem to be increasing in both frequency and severity in my recent article entitled “Are We Entering The Worst Period For Natural Disasters In U.S. History?“  But it isn’t just the ground under our feet that seems to be becoming more unstable.  The weather patterns that we all take for granted and that society depends upon seem to be rapidly changing.

The following are 22 signs that global weather patterns are going absolutely crazy…
