Breaking News: Israeli F-16 fighter jet downed over Gaza Strip ~ link ~ This means that Hamas is beginning to bring out the 'heavy stuff'.  Also, Egypt has promised not to allow Israel to repeat the horrors of Operation Cast Lead four years ago.  One of the ways to do that is to supply the largely undefended Gaza population with shoulder fired anti-air missiles and modern anti-tank missiles.  That will change everything if it happens.   Stirling

Egypt's Prime Minister condemns Israeli strikes as 'a blatant aggression against humanity' as Gaza War reaches Third Day  - with photos  ~ link ~ Egypt's prime minister rushed to the aid of the Gaza Strip's Hamas rulers today in the midst of an Israeli offensive there, calling the Israeli attacks 'a blatant aggression against humanity.'

In the first possible break in the escalating conflict, Israel had announced it would suspend military operations in Gaza during Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Kandil's arrival in the Palestinian enclave.

But as rockets blasted through the sky, it was clear that promises of a three-hour ceasefire between Israel and Gaza had failed.

White Phosphorous now being used by IDF against Palestanian civilians - Nowhere to hide: Israeli bombs 'rain down' on defenseless Gaza civilians - with video ~ link ~ This is consistent with the War Crimes that Israel committed during the Operation Cast Lead War four years ago against the Gaza people.  One more horror that will unite all the Arabs and peoples of the Middle East against Israel.  Stirling

In heavily populated Gaza scores of civilians have been killed or injured in the latest attacks by Israeli forces. Human rights activists report from its largest hospital that some of the injuries are “consistent with the use of white phosphorous”.

RT spoke with two human rights activists, Adie Mormech and Joe Catron, who have witnessed the mounting civilian casualties at Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza following the first day of Israel’s military operation “Pillar of Defense”.

Egypt says it will 'pay everything' to end Israeli aggression on Gaza ~ link ~ If those words are true than Israel just got itself a powerful enemy on its southern border!!!   Stirling

The Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil says his country will “pay everything” to end the new wave of Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip.

“Egypt will pay everything to stop the aggression and achieve a lasting truce. We will be with the Palestinians until their independence... That's the only way for stability in the region,” Xinhua quoted Qandil as saying on Friday.

The Egyptian premier made the remarks at a joint press conference with the democratically-elected Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh in the Gaza Strip, which has been under intensive Israeli strikes since November 14.

“Egypt has started and will continue its efforts to end the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip," Qandil stated.

He added, “What I saw today in Gaza, at the hospital, with the martyrs, cannot be met with silence. This tragedy should not be met with silence and the whole world should take responsibility to stop the aggression.”

The senior Egyptian official also called on the Palestinian factions to unite as this is "the only way for Palestinian strength." He asserted that Egypt will undertake its role in realizing the Palestinian internal reconciliation.

Haniyeh, for his part, described Qandil's visit as “historic,” which indicates that Israel “can no longer do whatever it wants in Gaza.”

Egyptian President Morsi warns Israel will pay a heavy price ~ linkBibi 666 Netanyahu and his War Cabinet of 'Geniuses' are managing to unite the entire Middle East against them on the eve of the greatest war in the history of the Middle East.   Stirling

"I don't want to take unusual steps," Morsi added, "but if I see that the homeland is in danger, I won't hesitate." Morsi said earlier that "Gaza will not remain alone as it was," adding that the aggressors "know they will pay a heavy price is they continue their aggression." He further said that the post-Mubarak Egypt was completely different and that all Egyptians were determined to stop the offensive on the Gaza Strip.

Missiles fall near Hamas PM's house as Israel intensifies attacks on Gaza ~ link ~ A targeted missile strike launched from an Israeli Navy warship has hit a vehicle near the home of Hamas Prime Minister in Gaza, Ismail Haniyeh, according to Israeli media. This comes as Israel intensifies its attacks on Gaza.

Residents say the strike destroyed an electricity generator near Haniyeh’s house. It was unclear whether he was at home at the time of the assault. No casualties have been reported from that incident.

Meanwhile an Israeli Defense Force spokesperson has said in an official Twitter: “During the past hour, the IDF targeted approx. 70 underground medium range rocket launching sites in Gaza. Direct hits were confirmed.”

War of attrition in Gaza ~ link ~ As a result, even now they are succeeding in firing dozens of Grad rockets (122-millimeter Katyusha rockets) although dozens of manned and unmanned IAF aerial vehicles, as well as sophisticated observations means from the ground and sea, are watching and following them in a bid to foil the launches.
The Hamas and Islamic Jihad's rocket-launching cells, which are likely operating according to a preplanned program, manage static launchers installed under or above the ground. The operators are not required to be near launcher when firing a rocket, which they can do from a remote place as well. In addition, they are concealed in a way that allows them to reload the launcher quickly and secretly and escape before the IDF can "come full circle" and hit them.

US Senate expresses full support of Israel ~ link ~ The United States Senate...the best Senate that Israel can buy!  With only a handful of exceptions, nothing but a bunch of political whores for a tiny foreign power at the expense of America/Americans.  Stirling

Hypocrisy of slaughter: Israel's Orwellian account of Gaza campaign ~ linkIsrael’s assault on Gaza raises doubts that it has any interest in finding the lasting peace settlement it proclaims to want. Does the campaign have an alternative objective as part of a strategy to engineer a strike on Iran?

It’s probably the world’s most tragic never-ending story. For almost 65 years now, Israel has been bombing, maiming and humiliating the Palestinians, bulldozing their homes and placing Gaza in lock-down mode turning it into the world’s largest concentration camp.

Obama angry at Netanyahu over Gaza assault - with video ~ link Phyllis Bennis: I think we need to be very clear that when we speak of an all-out war, like Cast Lead, it was a very one-sided war. If you just look at the casualties’ figures of that horrific three weeks of the Israeli assault on Gaza – there were more than 1,400 Palestinians killed, the majority of them civilians. And there were 13 Israelis, of whom seven were civilians and five of them were killed in friendly fire. So the disparity of casualties, and we’re seeing it again now is enormous.

This is a very dangerous moment if we again look back at the Cast Lead as a model, there’s some timing parallels. In both cases, the Israelis launched their attack shortly after the US elections and shortly before the US was about to swear in a president at the inauguration in January, and just before Israeli elections were scheduled as well. So there is no question that it has everything to do with Israeli politics.
