We live in a time when to be an alarmist is to be a realist.

Syrian 'rebels' kill 23 Syrian soldiers - Reject peace talks ~ link ~ One more strong indication that we remain on the Road to Armageddon/WWIII.   Stirling

The state of Syria’s month-long ceasefire is once again in serious doubt today, with rebels taking credit for a massive attack in the town of Rastan which killed at least 23 soldiers.

The rebels claimed that the town of Rastan was “destroyed” in the fighting. Rebels also assassinated a top tribal elder in Deir Ezzor, along with his son. The two were killed after reportedly being warned to stop “cooperating” with the government.

The ceasefire was supposed to be setting the stage for peace talks, but that too seems to be unlikely at this point, with the rebel Syrian National Council announcing today that it has decided not to take part in any of the talks, blaming the Arab League for not backing them more thoroughly.

US intensifies confrontation with Iran ~ link ~ The likelihood of any firm deal emerging from the Baghdad talks is slim. The US demands that the IAEA be granted access to personnel and facilities is an endless process requiring Iran to prove a negative—that nowhere in its large territory are there programs related to nuclear weapons. The IAEA, which is meeting with Iranian officials this week, is demanding admission to Iran’s Parchin complex—a military base—where allegedly high-explosive testing of the type required for a nuclear device took place, nearly a decade ago. Like similar claims, the IAEA “evidence” comes from foreign intelligence sources—most likely from the US or Israel.

Israel, which is threatening to take unprovoked military action against Iran, has put more pressure on negotiations by pressing for a complete end to Iran’s uranium enrichment programs. According to Associated Press, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told EU policy chief Catherine Ashton last week that Iran would have to commit to a timetable to end enrichment and to dismantle its Fordo plant for Israel to accept the outcome—demands that Tehran has already rejected.

US sides with Israel's nukes over Iran's lack thereof ~ link ~ The last President who opposed Israel's nuclear program was John F. Kennedy and that is one of the reasons he was murdered in the Coup of 1963.   Stirling

Russia warns Kosovo against training Syrian fighters ~ linkThat’s not sitting well at all with Russia though, with Ambassador Vitaly Churkin warning of “disturbing information” that Kosovo has been establishing growing ties with the fighters, and cautioning that it could make Kosovo a “destabilizing factor” across the region.

Kosovo, however, seems determined to be that guy, with Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj insisting that his country is committed to the rebels in Syria, just as they were committed to the rebels in Libya.” He denied any plans to establish full-scale training centers for rebels in Kosovo, however.

Ron Paul pulls out of remaining primaries - Will continue to fight for delegates ~ link ~ He cannot win in primary elections that use corrupt computer voting and vote counting.  Where he has strength, in obtaining delegates, is where he will continue to fight, however even here the outright stealing of votes is outragious.  The crooks have ruined American democracy to the point that good men cannot will fairly.  Stirling

As a result, the United States is without a substantive challenge to its security apparatus this election. War crimes, torture, rendition, TSA patdowns and the erosion of civil liberties will continue unabated for the next four years. In addition, citizens can expect the national debt to continue being financed by interest bearing loans while various industries consolidate further their wealth and power through continued assistance from governmental regulatory bureaucracies.

Ron Paul supporters see fraud as Arizona Republican Convention is shut down ~ link ~ Thanks to exclusive interviews conducted by Public Appeal, a clear picture is finally emerging of what transpired at yesterday’s convention. Ron Paul delegates came out in force and had a sizable presence on the convention floor. Nevertheless, the meeting descended into chaos on various occasions, amidst allegations of election fraud and disenfranchisement.

Several Ron Paul-supporting alternate delegates complained that the organizers refused to seat them as delegates even though numerous vacancies existed – largely due to Romney delegates who started trickling out of the convention in the early afternoon.

Further disputes arose when the ballots for the at-large delegates were distributed early Saturday evening. Sources report that the initial set of ballots had the Romney-supporters listed in bloc at the top of the ballot with asterisks next to their names signifying “endorsed by the Romney campaign.” The Paul campaign’s slate of delegates was listed on the bottom of the sheet with no such designation.

Why Ron Paul is done with the primaries ~ link ~ Actually the primaries are almost totally over with anyway.   Stirling

Liars or 'Genius'? - "Lady" Gaga, Zuckerberg, and Obama groomed from childhood for their roles ~ link ~ Very good article...do take the time to go the the link and read all of this one!  Stirling

Of course, many young people mature late and mathematical capability is not the only kind of creativity. This is not an issue to the top elites. They apparently wish to select for numerical facilities (music, language and math skills) because the owners of such talents are likely to be linear rather than holistic thinkers.

The idea is to present geniuses with outward, dazzling skills but with little in the way of insight or determination to investigate the realities of their larger privilege.

In a sense these youngsters are like performing monkeys, fabulously skilled but incurious when it comes to the system that has launched them. Lady Gaga is said to have composed music at four. Zuckerberg supposedly speaks five languages including Latin. These are the so-called “beautiful minds.”
The privileges are evident and obvious. Zuckerberg, landing in Harvard with the eyes of the elite upon him, was soon smothered in money from various questionable sources including those with close ties to US Intel. Now his company is worth US$100 billion and climbing.

Lady Gaga’s rise was laid by a massive marketing campaign that is surely not available to most other youngsters with similar talents. She entertains billions with increasingly less agile and tuneful songs – or outright plagiarisms.

And when it comes to politics, top operators like US President Barack Obama seem almost entirely manufactured. Obama has hardly revealed anything substantive about his background, and what he has shared has been questionable, or even branded as a forgery. Nonetheless, he may win re-election, such is the power of those who stand in the shadows behind him.

Spanish bank debts deepen Eurozone crisis ~ link ~
The European financial crisis has taken another turn for the worse as doubts grow over the solvency of the Spanish banking system and the prospect of a Greek withdrawal from the eurozone becomes increasingly likely.

Last Friday the Spanish government demanded that banks set aside an additional €30 billion ($39 billion) to cover massive losses in real estate loans, its fourth attempt in three years to clean up the country’s banking system. But the measure was generally considered to be too little, too late by financial markets. Bank shares fell and the interest rate on Spanish bonds climbed to over 6 percent, a level considered unsustainable, amid fears that Spain would have to seek a bailout package from the European Union. The plunge in bank share values included Banco Santander, the eurozone’s largest bank by value.

World edges closer to a deflationary stump as money contracts in China ~ link ~ Narrow M1 data for April is the weakest since modern records began. Real M1 deposits – a leading indicator of economic growth six months or so ahead – have contracted since November.

They are shrinking faster that at any time during the 2008-2009 crisis, and faster than in Spain right now, according to Simon Ward at Henderson Global Investors.

Mass protests in Spain mark 'Indignados' anniversary ~ link Hundreds of thousands of people took part in mass demonstrations in more than 80 cities and towns throughout Spain Saturday to mark the first anniversary of the eruption of the indignados or 15-M movement.

One year ago, thousands of youth occupied public squares in 162 towns and cities around Spain protesting unemployment, the corrupt political system and government austerity measures imposed by the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE). Since then, conditions of life have only gotten worse.

Greek Minister: An exit from the Eurozone could trigger civil war ~ link ~ Just like a typical corrupt politician...he has it backwards.  The truth is that NOT exiting from the Eurozone could very well trigger a civil war in Greece.   Stirling

Fresh talks in Greece as fears of Euro exit grows ~ link Further talks are due in Greece amid a scramble to try to secure a workable government following inconclusive elections nine days ago. Leftist parties have signalled their opposition to joining a coalition that would stick to unpopular austerity policies in exchange for bailouts.

The president has proposed a government of technocrats, but party leaders are pessimistic any deal can be reached.

Superbugs mutate in India, making antibiotics impotent - And they are spreading ~ link ~ It is no longer a secret that drug-resistant bacteria are rapidly emerging and spreading all around the world as a result of the continued overuse and abuse of antibiotic drugs in both conventional medicine and industrial agriculture. But now it appears that the genes responsible for spawning these so-called "superbugs" are also spreading, and turning otherwise mild conditions such as throat infections into deadly killers.

Known as NDM-1, or New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase-1, these genes basically hitch a ride on mobile DNA loops known as plasmids, and latch themselves onto various bacteria whenever and wherever they find an opportunity. The end result of this parasite-like invasion into bacteria is that even largely innocuous microbes can become extremely virulent and fully able to outsmart even the strongest antibiotic drugs available.

"Things as common as strep throat or a child's scratched knee could once again kill," said Margaret Chan, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) at a recent meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark, about the phenomenon. "Hip replacements, organ transplants, cancer chemotherapy and care of preterm infants would become far more difficult or even too dangerous to undertake."
