Syria - Deadly blasts rock Idlib - with video ~ link ~ Also see ~ link
A number of people have been killed in blasts in the north-western Syrian city of Idlib, activists and state TV say.

TV reports said two suicide bombings had killed eight people, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said more than 20 had died in attacks targeting the security forces.

Bombs welcome new UN chief monitor in Syria - with video ~ link ~ The Syrian Government is actually doing all it can to keep the cease fire, but the opposition (that is the forces controlled by the US/France/UK/NATO/Israel/GCC are doing all they can to keep the war going and to expand it.  Stirling

The head of the new UN observer team is starting his work in Syria amid sporadic violence. On Monday, twin suicide bombers killed at least nine people and wounded nearly a hundred, fuelling doubts over how long the shaky ceasefire can hold.

The two suicide attackers set off explosive-rigged cars near a state intelligence compound in the north-western city of Idlib, the Syrian state media reported. They killed at least nine and wounded almost 100 people, including security officers and civilians. The Britain-based human rights organization Syrian Observatory puts the death toll higher, saying more than 20 people have been killed.

Iran adds 940 MW nuclear power to national grid ~ link ~ Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereydoun Abbasi has announced that 940 megawatts (MW) of nuclear electricity has been added to the country’s national grid.  Abbasi said the enhancement of the national grid took place on April 28, 2012.
He added, “This measure was taken after several experimental tests and [in line with] power plant standards.” He further said that over the past months the experts at Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant have successfully managed to boost its performance to an “acceptable” level.

Israeli military building wall along Lebanon border ~ linkThe Israeli military has begun building a wall along part of its border with Lebanon to avoid what it called ''frictions'' in the area.

According to Israeli sources, the cement wall would be several meters high and intended to protect the recently-constructed settler units in the Israeli border town of Metulla from fire coming from the Lebanese side.

It is expected to take several weeks to build the wall, which would be more than 1km long. An Israeli security fence already runs along the entire border.

Economic Nostradamus: We are literally witnessing a collapse ~ linkWith the Presidential election cycle in full swing our incumbent administration, the media, and their financial pundits continue to maintain that the US economy’s green shoots have blossomed into fields of golden sunflowers. Despite what we’re being told, however, the actual data tells a stunningly different story.

Richard Yamarone, a senior economist for Bloomberg Brief, has been called an economic Nostradamus for his prescient forecasting of the 2008 financial crisis, and now he’s warning that the worst is not over. In a recent interview with King World News he suggests that not only is the economic outlook a barren desert devoid of any existence of green shoots, but we have a front row seat to witness the collapse of life in America as we know it:

What is America's Economic Breaking Point? ~ linkNearly four years on the country finds itself in the midst of difficult times that have taken their toll on millions of Americans through job losses, home foreclosures, un-servicable debt, and ever dwindling retirement savings. By all accounts, Americans are worse off today than they were ten years ago, and the state of our nation, despite what Washington’s media masters report, is fiscally, economically, and socially dire.

With an estimated national debt that will approach $20 trillion in just a couple of years, some $200 trillion in unfunded liabilities over the next twenty five years, scores of millions of Americans dependent on overburdened government safety nets to survive, and a rapidly shrinking domestic economy, the key question becomes,”what is America’s economic breaking point?”

The Pentagon is about to Waste $1.5 Trillion on 'Flying Piano' F-35 ~ link ~ This is the one that will kill the DOD design and acquisition process!  Foreign partners are dropping out and the costs have reached a totally insane level for a plane that is far too compromised to be good at any one role in its multirole mission statement.  I was involved in a VTOL all-composite stealth attack family of aircraft OVER 25 YEARS AGO that was a tiny fraction of the cost and a far better aircraft at several roles, but the Pentagon did not fund it.  It is all about politics and greed and screw the taxpayer and it has now gotten so bad that we simply have lost the ability to field the high technology that we have due to political corruption.   Stirling

The Pentagon is about to waste $1.5 trillion, 38% of entire defense budget for a "virtual flying piano". That may sound preposterous, and it is. Unfortunately, it is also true.

Martial Red Zone in Chicago for NATO meeting ~ link ~ If Transportation Security pat downs at public venues, thousands of drones over the skies of America, and the National Security Agency’s new Echelon-like listening center in Utah weren’t enough to convince you that we’re living in a police state, then perhaps the latest news out of Chicago will change your mind.

As world leaders prepare to meet in the windy city for their annual NATO summit, U.S. federal officials are working feverishly to implement a security net so broad that it encompasses the entirety of Cook County, Illinois. While international summits are traditionally met with a larger police presence and preparations for the possibility of protests or rioting, what’s taking place on American soil in anticipation of the May 20 meeting in downtown Chicago can be interpreted in only one way – the implementation of regionalized martial law.
