The latest clashes between security forces and armed groups in Syria come despite the presence of United Nations observers tasked with monitoring a ceasefire that took effect on April 12.
Since the beginning of unrest in Syria last year, scores of people, mostly security forces, have been killed in terrorist bomb attacks.
US special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman left the Pakistani capital, Islamabad on Friday night without reaching any agreements with Pakistani officials, The New York Times reported on Friday. The two-day negotiations were aimed at patching up damaged relations between the two countries caused by US airstrikes last November that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers on the Afghanistan border.
Pakistani officials say that without an apology they cannot re-open the US-led foreign forces supply routes into Afghanistan that have been closed since the November airstrike. In return, the US is withholding as much as USD 3 billion of promised military aid to Pakistan.
Reports say several Syrian troops were killed and a number of others were injured as the Syrian military unit foiled an infiltration attempt by the armed group on Saturday.
Meanwhile, state media said three Syrian soldiers and two members of a “terrorist group” were killed in clashes between security forces and armed groups in the northwestern city of Aleppo on Saturday.

Russia has undertaken intensive preparations during the past few
months for a possible military strike by Israel and the United States on
Iran. According to recent reports, the Russian General Staff expects a
war against Iran this summer, with enormous repercussions for not only
the Middle East but also the Caucasus.
Russian troops in
the Caucasus have been technically upgraded, and a missile division
situated on the Caspian Sea has been placed in readiness. The missile
cruisers of the Caspian flotilla are now anchored off the coast of
Dagestan. The only Russian military base in the South Caucasus, located
in Armenia, is also on alert for military intervention. Last autumn,
Russia sent its aircraft carrier Kuznetsov to the Syrian port Tartous
following the escalation of the conflict in Syria. Experts believe that
Russia would support Tehran in the event of war, at least on a
military-technical level.

Syria "rebels" launch sea raid as Lebanon seizes weapons ~ link ~ Syrian rebel gunmen in
inflatable dinghies have attacked a military unit on the Mediterranean
coast, with deaths on both sides, state media report.
It is thought to be the first rebel assault from the sea.
Separately, Lebanon says its navy has seized weapons destined for the
rebels.

Members of an armed
group have carried out an attack against a Syrian military unit
stationed near the northwestern port city of Latakia.
Reports say several Syrian troops were killed and a number of others were injured as the Syrian military unit foiled an infiltration attempt by the armed group on Saturday.
Meanwhile, state media said three Syrian soldiers and two members of a “terrorist group” were killed in clashes between security forces and armed groups in the northwestern city of Aleppo on Saturday.

Satellite imagery reveals an escalation in activity at North Korea’s
Punggye-ri atomic site in possible preparation for a third nuclear test,
experts say. However, there is no clear indication from the photos when
the test may occur.
The images from a US-based website highlight a chain of mining carts
on piles of excavated soil. This coincides with South Korean
intelligence reports at the beginning of April claiming that the North
was digging a new tunnel at the Punggye-ri for the purposes of a covert
nuclear test.

Yellow Sea from April 22 to 27. The drills are a response by the two

units also took part in the live fire drills.

Spanish unemployment has hit a new record high, official figures have shown.
The number of unemployed people reached 5,639,500 at the end
of March, with the unemployment rate hitting 24.4%, the national
statistics agency said.
Egyptian protests shut Saudi Embassy ~ link ~ Saudi Arabia has shut its
embassy and consulates in Egypt following protests over an Egyptian
lawyer who has been detained in Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi ambassador to Egypt had also been recalled, the Saudi state news agency said. Egyptian protesters have demanded the release of human rights lawyer Ahmed al-Gizawi.

Are you ready—it is becoming clear that we, our children and our

top of the building, in a pool that is cracked, leaking, and precarious
even without an earthquake, are 1,565 fuel rods.”
If an earthquake or other event were to cause this pool to
drain, this could result in a catastrophic radiological fire that could
wipe out most of the northern hemisphere; certainly it would be a
massive civilization-breaking event.
1,565 fuel rods translates into 460 tons of nuclear fuel stored in pool in a barely intact building on its third and fourth floors. If the storage pool breaks and runs dry, the nuclear fuel inside will overheat and explode.
The country’s Security Service is examining several possible
scenarios for the blasts, which are being treated as a terror attack.
The latest findings suggest that the same person might be behind last
year’s incident and Friday’s attacks.
On November 16, 2011 an
explosion at a bus stop near a downtown shopping center in
Dnepropetrovsk killed a young local man. The incident shares certain
traits with Friday’s blasts. Handmade explosives were used in both cases
– perhaps even the very same substance – and the bombs were all planted
in concrete trash bins.

The Transportation Security Administration is defending its agents,

people out there end up believing exactly what they want to believe even

economy for example. Barack Obama wants to believe that his policies

read are not talked about much by the mainstream media. They would
rather be "positive" and "upbeat" about the direction that things are
headed.
But lying to the American people is not going to help them. If you
are speeding in a car toward a 500 foot cliff, you don't need someone to
cheer you on. Instead, you need someone to slam on the brakes.
The cold, hard reality of the matter is that the U.S. economy is in far worse shape than it was four or five years ago.
We have never come close to recovering from the last recession and another one will be here soon.
