Israel to sign deal for sixth German manufactured submarine ~ link ~ Israel uses these as the third-leg of its nuclear force: Aircraft delivered nuclear bombs and missiles; IRBMs (intermediate range ballistic missiles) with nuclear warheads; and the nuclear tipped cruise missiles that the subs can fire.  This gives Israel not only a doomsday system, that is if all of the other nuclear weapon systems are destroyed in a surprise nuclear (or otherwise) attack the subs can still launch, but a global reach system that they can use to deploy at very long ranges.  This means that tiny Israel not only can reach most of Europe and a large part of Asia and Africa with nuclear weapons via its aircraft and missiles but just about anywhere on Earth using its nuclear armed subs.  Yet there are no threats to force Israel to disarm its known nuclear weapon systems.  Yet, we are on the verge of World War III over a non-existent Iranian nuclear weapons program!!!  Stirling      


According to foreign reports, the submarines are equipped with cruise missiles which have a range of 1,500 kilometers and can carry nuclear warheads. According to those reports, the submarine fleet enables Israel to deliver a "second strike" in the case of a nuclear attack. The fleet also allows Israel to carry out intelligence-gathering missions far from its borders and to defend its territorial waters.

The construction of the fifth and sixths submarines in the German city of Kiel is almost complete, and they are scheduled to be delivered to the Israeli navy in 2013 and 2014 respectively. The two vessels are equipped with state-of-the-art systems that enable them to remain underwater for a longer period of time. A sixth submarine, scheduled to be delivered to Israel at least four years from now, will be even more advanced.

With senior Pentagon officials confirming that they have already been drawing up plans to attack Iran as well as Syria, the continued (and accelerating) buildup of military assets in the region, and now United States Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta confirming that the United States would backup Israel in an attack on Iran, the unfortunate prospect of an attack looks even more likely.

While he did indeed confirm that the United States would take a role if Israel moved to strike Iranian nuclear facilities – which are not producing nuclear weapons – he would not explicitly explain the extent to which the United States would be involved.

Iran will make absolutely no concessions on its nuclear programme, a key lawmaker declared on Sunday amid high geopolitical tensions and ahead of mooted talks with world powers. “The parliament will never allow the government to go back even one step in its nuclear policy,” Aladin Borujerdi, the head of Iran’s parliamentary foreign policy commission, told the official IRNA news agency.

His comments precede expected talks agreed to by Iran and the P5+1 group of powers — the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany.Iran has formally requested a date and venue for the negotiations, the previous round of which collapsed in Istanbul in January last year.

The clashes near the centre of Assad's power base appeared to be an attempt by rebels, who have been forced out of Homs and Idlib and came under attack in the eastern city of Deir al-Zor on Monday, to show they still pose a serious challenge.

Fighting erupted after midnight in the upmarket al-Mezze district when up to six rebels fired a rocket propelled grenade at the house of an army general, said Rami Abdulrahman, who runs the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). Quoting local residents, he said the gunmen then took refuge in a building where they battled soldiers, gunfire echoing throughout the neighborhood. Official Syrian news agency Sana said three rebels and one member of the security forces died.

According to Pajhwok Afghan News, the nine-member parliamentary probe spent two days in the southern Kandahar province conducting interviews with the families of the victims, tribal elders, as well as survivors while collecting evidence at the site of the brutal slayings in the Panjwai district.

Hamidzai Lali, a lawmaker representing the Kandahar province at the Wolesi Jirga, told Pajhwok Afghan News, that their probe concluded that there were anywhere between 15 to 20 American soldiers involved in the murders.  “We closely examined the site of the incident, talked to the families who lost their beloved ones, the injured people and tribal elders,” he said. Lali stated that the attack lasted an entire hour and involved two different groups of American soldiers.

China will ensure tankers can haul Iran oil ~ link ~ China, the biggest buyer of Iranian oil, will take steps to prevent European trade sanctions disrupting shipments from the Persian Gulf nation, said tanker operator China Shipping Development Co.

The government has discussed ways of helping shipping companies get insurance once sanctions against Iran kick in on July 1, General Manager Yan Zhichong told reporters in Hong Kong today. The ministry of transport and National Development Reform Commission has had special meetings on the issue, he said.  "The attitude is clear - we must make sure that the volume of our shipments will not drop," Yan said. "The government regards it as a very important issue."

The €130 billion package agreed to by euro zone finance ministers last week was not a bailout of Greece, but of the banks and financial institutions that invested money in its bonds.

It is estimated that out of every euro provided by Brussels, only 19 cents will go to the Greek government, with the rest flowing straight into the coffers of banks and financial investors. The costs of repayment are being borne by the Greek people. Savage jobs cuts and the destruction of social services are driving the country back to the conditions of the Great Depression. Already, almost a third of the population is estimated to be living below the poverty line.

The US Economy:  Soul Crushing Total System Failure ~ link ~  No matter how often the pretty people on television tell us that the U.S. economy is getting better, it isn't going to change the soul crushing agony that millions of American families are going through right now.  The stock market may have gotten back to where it was in 2008, but the job market sure hasn't.  As I wrote about a few days ago, the percentage of working age Americans that are actually employed has stayed very flat since late 2009, and the average duration of unemployment is hovering near an all-time high.  Sadly, this is not just a temporary downturn.  The U.S. economy has been slowly declining for several decades and is nearing total system failure.  Right now, many poverty statistics are higher than they have ever been since the Great Depression.  Many measurements of government dependence are the highest that we have ever seen in all of U.S. history.  The emerging one world economic system (otherwise known as "free trade") has cost the U.S. economy tens of thousands of businesses, millions of jobs and hundreds of billions of dollars of our national wealth.  The federal government is going into unprecedented amounts of debt in order to try to maintain our current standard of living, but there is no way that they will be able to sustain this kind of borrowing for too much longer.  So enjoy this bubble of false prosperity while you can, because things will soon get significantly worse.

The Obama Administration: All your privacy and all your stuff belong to us ~ link ~  Did you know that the federal government claims that it can take away your constitutional rights any time that it wants to?  Over the past several decades, there have been an endless parade of laws and executive orders that have been slowly and methodically carving up our rights under the U.S. Constitution.  Most Americans are not even aware of the "creeping totalitarianism" that is happening.  Most Americans just trust the "authorities" when they tell us that certain things "must be done" in order to keep us all safe.  But even if we gave up all of our privacy, even if we gave up all of our liberties and our freedoms, and even if we gave the government all of our stuff they still would not be able to keep us safe.  It is inevitable that evil people are going to do evil things, and if you are counting on the Obama administration to keep you safe then you are being delusional.  Obama is not going to save us from anything.  But Obama will gladly take away our rights and our freedoms if the American people allow him to.  The Obama administration seems to have an endless lust for more power.  Sadly, if we do give away our rights it will have some very serious consequences.  If we freely give away all of the rights that we have been given under the U.S. Constitution it will be incredibly difficult to ever get them back.  Giving up liberty for security never works, and if we want to be worthy of being called Americans then we need to start standing up for the republic that our forefathers worked so hard to build.

An executive order that Barack Obama signed the other day is making headlines all over the nation. The title of the executive order is "National Defense Resources Preparedness" and it is actually an update of a series of previous executive orders.

The original "National Defense Resources Preparedness" executive order (EO 8248) was issued back in 1939.  This latest version is very similar to EO 12919 that was signed by Bill Clinton in June 1994.  However, several very important changes have been made in this new version. For example, in Section 201(b) the words "under both emergency and non-emergency conditions" have been added.
