Syria: US-NATO behind the killings of civilians ~ link ~ Just a continuation of the evil we imposed on the people of Libya to "protect" them.   Stirling

Putin warns West over Syria and Iran ~ link ~ The Russians and Chinese have been making these warning every few days, at progressively higher official levels.  They are serious!  Stirling
Vladimir Putin has accused the United States and its Western allies of supporting the Arab Spring revolts in its own interests and strongly warned against a military intervention in Syria.

Putin defended a Russia-China veto of a U.N. resolution condemning Assad's crackdown on protests, saying that Moscow wouldn't allow the replay of what happened in Libya, where a NATO air campaign helped Libyans end Moammar Gadhafi's regime. He also warned strongly against any attack on Iran, saying its consequences would be "catastrophic."

Syria: The Middle East's Tipping Point ~ link ~  With the recent developments, the façade has tumbled down disclosing the real goals hidden behind different masks, revealing that the slogans demanding freedom, democracy, and human rights have been used as a battering-ram by the advocates for an intervention to break Syria. The objective seems clear: depriving the country of its role and the Syrian people of their will.
The Western goal for Syria, and the broader Middle East, is to progressively consolidate its control of the region. The so-called “War on Terror” that began after 9/11 is an expression of this desire to co-op the Middle East, as are the occupation of Afghanistan, the fall of Baghdad in 2003, the Israeli war with Lebanon in 2006, and, finally, the Israeli attack on Gaza at the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009. The United States, however, faced resistance and opposition movements.

89% vote in favor of new Syrian Constitution - with video ~ link ~ You will not hear or read this on the mainstream news media in the West.  Stirling

Syria’s Interior Minister has announced that 89 per cent of those who took part in the referendum have voted in favor of a new constitution. The new law puts an end to five decades of one-party rule among other reforms put forward by President Assad.

Interior Minister Ibrahim al-Shaar announced the results of the referendum at a press conference on Monday. According to the minister, out of 14,580,000 Syrians eligible to vote some 8,376,000, or about 57 per cent, actually came to the polling stations and voted, RT’s Maria Finoshina reports from Damascus.

Most Syrians voted for new constitution ~ link ~ The new constitution will end five decades of Ba'ath party rule by allowing political pluralism, it will also enact a presidential limit of two seven-year terms.

Article 23 of the new constitution guarantees the women’s rights to participate in the social, economic, and political activities, while Article 42 states that citizens have the right to express their thoughts freely and to hold peaceful demonstrations.

Damascus has pledged multi-party parliamentary elections within three months.

The new constitution is part of the reforms plans promised by President Bashar al-Assad.

Iran strike would be 'catastrophic' says Putin ~ link ~  Russia is troubled by the growing threat of a military strike on Iran, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Monday, adding that fear of foreign intervention pushes other “nuclear threshold” states to acquire nuclear weapons, rather than dissuading them.

“Russia is alarmed by the growing threat of a military strike” against Iran, Putin said in a lengthy campaign article focusing on Russia’s foreign policy, published in the daily Moskovskiye Novosti newspaper ahead of presidential elections on March 4, which he is widely expected to win.

India will continue oil imports from Iran ~ link ~ India is concerned that its arch-enemy Pakistan has too much influence with Iran.   Stirling

US armed Israel for Iran attack ~ link ~  Israeli officials have recently ramped up their war rhetoric, threatening Iran with military strikes in case the US-engineered sanctions against the country fail to force Tehran into abandoning its civilian nuclear energy program.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program, using this pretext to impose sanctions against Iran and threaten the country with military attack.

This is while the International Atomic Energy Agency has never found any evidence indicating that Tehran's nuclear energy program has been diverted towards nuclear weapons production.

Russia upgrades Syrian-based electronic station to warn Iran of US/Iran attack ~ link ~ According to our sources, the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kutznetsov’s stay at the Syrian port of Tartus through most of January and up to mid-February had the special mission of keeping an eye out for any Israeli preparations for attacking Iran, Syria or Hizballah. It filled the gap left by the Russian station south of Damascus which was fully occupied with feeding data on Syrian opposition movements to Bashar Assad and watching out for signs of foreign intervention, military or covert, against his regime.

After expanding and upgrading their range to meet Iranian needs by interconnecting the two stations and adding extra Russian manpower, Moscow ordered the Admiral Kutznetsov to depart Tartus on Feb. 13 and sail to home port at Severomorsk on the Kola Peninsula. The Russian stations in Syria and Lebanon were by then ready for their expanded missions.

Putin assassination plot foiled - with video ~ link ~

Ukrainian security services have thwarted a plot to kill Russian PM Vladimir Putin, Russian officials say.

Two suspects were detained in the Ukrainian port of Odessa, Russia's state-owned Channel One TV reports.

Israeli War Games: Tel Aviv missile drill ~ link ~ They claim that this is not about a regional war, but their claims are not credible.  Stirling

Preparing for escalation? Security officials are taking the threat of long-range rockets being fired at central Israel from the Gaza Strip seriously, and have decided to hold a drill to prepare for such scenario.

The exercise, to be held in the Tel Aviv area next month, will simulate rocket attacks on central Israel that are not undertaken in the framework of an all-out regional war, unlike previous missile drills.

EU imposes new sanctions on Syrian regime ~ link ~
European foreign ministers increased the pressure Monday on Syria's regime to stop its crackdown on opponents, freezing the assets of several Syrian government officials and imposing sanctions on the country's central bank.

They also banned the purchase of gold, precious metals and diamonds from the country, and banned Syrian cargo flights from the European Union.

US eyes V-22 Osprey aircraft sales to Israel and UAE ~ link ~ The Osprey has a very high maintenance per hour requirement...it has VTOL capability but it is one expensive plane to maintain.  There were other VTOL solutions, 25 years ago, but politics cause the selection of the V-22.  I was involved in VTOL technology at the time as a consultant.  Stirling

Bell Helicopter, a unit of Textron Inc, and Boeing issued a news release in December after the Dubai air show, saying the aircraft had received "significant interest" from potential customers, but it did not identify them.

Boeing and Bell have been trying to generate foreign interest for years, but potential buyers were holding back to see how the plane did in combat, and because of the relatively high price of buying and operating the plane – both of which are now coming down.

Europe set to cut 33% of Iran crude oil purchases ~ link ~  The Iranian oil embargo is underway: Iran is struggling to find buyers for its crude, with top Asian consumers seeking to cut purchases as tightening US sanctions make it difficult to keep doing business with the OPEC producer.

One dead and four injured in school shooting in Ohio ~ link ~ One student has died and four others remain injured after a lone gunman opened fire in the school's cafeteria early this morning. The shooting was at Chardon High School, outside of Cleveland, Ohio, a Geauga County Sheriff’s spokesperson confirmed. It happened in the cafeteria around 7:30 this morning as students were eating breakfast and preparing for another day of classes.

Wyoming drawing up doomsday bill to plan for Fall of the United States ~ link ~ Wyoming state representatives have voted to create a doomsday government task force in the event the state must self-sufficiently operate during a national economic or political collapse.

Passing on its first reading Friday, House Bill 85 would permit an investigation on issues like alternative currency, food distribution, a possible state military draft, and obtaining military aircraft.

UK: Mystery virus killing thousands of lambs ~ link ~ The Schmallenberg virus causes lambs to be born dead or with serious deformities such as fused limbs and twisted necks, which mean they cannot survive.Scientists are urgently trying to find out how the disease, which also affects cattle, spreads and how to fight it, as the number of farms affected increases by the day.

So far, 74 farms across southern and eastern England have been hit by the virus, which arrived in this country in January. A thousand farms in Europe have reported cases since the first signs of the virus were seen in the German town of Schmallenberg last summer.

Mystery grows as more livestock die in Maury County, Tennessee ~ link ~  Is someone sending a message to the West with livestock viruses???  Stirling

Scottish independence: Is it only a matter of time? ~ link ~ The question of Scottish independence, which rose again when the nationalist party came to power in 2007, is proving to be as a much a battle of identity and personality as a contest of ideas and policies.

Salmond believes Scottish independence is a foregone conclusion. “The bird has flown, and cannot now be returned to its cage,” he said. “I believe this journey represents the aspirations and the ambitions of the people of Scotland.”

Fukushima: All 20 calves born at farm were stillborn ~ link ~ The nightmare at Fukushima continues to grow but the mainstream news media ignores it.  Stirling

Evacuate Tokyo and all US Forces from Japan ~ link ~   Widely known Physicist Dr Paolo Scampa, the publisher of the EU AIPRI Blog and an eminent chemical physicist, announced today his latest calculations of deadly radioactivity in Tokyo itself.  Both the nuclear regulatory and media responses have been missing in action. However, the outrageous statement of a Japanese politician pretty well sums up the level of understanding of the parasitic political class “Smile, and the radiation won’t hurt you.”The Tokyo suburbs are about 100 miles or 160 km South of the six destroyed, deteriorating and badly leaking nuclear reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi Station for Nuclear Reactors.

BP Oil Disaster: A fishy tail which could only mean that DWH blowout was a planned event ~ link ~ The 'event' has caused a major change in the world's weather patterns for going on two years now...adding to the growing level of chaos in the World...that is the 'why'...Goldman Sachs and BP insiders dumped their stock shortly before this happened.   Stirling

The BP Gulf Oil Disaster: An Explosive Detonation? ~ link ~

  • Most of the oil that began to flow into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico did not come from Leaks 1 and 2, but from a third Well that BP hid from the public record.
  • The 3rd Well, research shows, could have been blown out by an explosive detonation.
