US deploys troops in Israel for Iran War ~ link ~This may explain the Iranian top general's baiting of the US Navy by telling the US to keep its carriers out of the Persian Gulf.  If they are going to have a war, Iran may want to have it now rather then in March or April, when far more US troops and technology will be in Israel.   Stirling

The US military is preparing a massive military campaign against Iran, sending thousands of American troops, warships and weaponry to Israel.

An unnamed source said the military deployment of US anti-missile ships and accompanying support personnel will occur in January and later this spring, Global Research reported.

Commander of the US Third Air Force based in Germany Lt.-Gen Frank Gorenc said it is not just an "exercise," but a "deployment," The Jerusalem Post said.  Washington and Tel Aviv have planned to hold what they call the largest-ever joint military exercise this spring.  The US commander visited Israel two weeks ago to confirm details for “the deployment of several thousand American soldiers to Israel.”

This is while the US is reportedly bringing its Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) and ship-based Aegis ballistic missile systems to Israel.

Meanwhile, US President Barack Obama on Saturday signed into law fresh economic sanctions, targeting Iran's Central Bank and financial sector.

US plans buffer zone along Syria border ~ link ~ That will mean war if the zone is within the border of Syria!   Stirling

Suleiman Frangieh, head of Lebanese al-Marada movement, said Monday that there is strong evidence suggesting that Washington seeks to establish a buffer zone along Lebanon-Syria border and that the move harms Lebanon's interests.

He also defended remarks by Lebanese Defense Minister Fayez Ghoson about the unrest in Syria and criticized those saying that attacking the defense minister is an indirect attack on the Lebanese Army.

Lebanese defense minister recently said that members of al-Qaeda terrorist group, fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, have entered Syria via Lebanon.

Head of al-Marada movement also said that Lebanon would continue to support the Syrian government.

“We are with the Syrian regime, but we will not take any act against Lebanon. We don't raise President (Bashar) al-Assad's picture, we rather raise our president's picture. We believe in having a good relation with Syria, but we don't say that it is our reference. For us, Lebanon's advantage is a priority, and history will prove that,” Frangieh said.

A mistaken case for Syrian regime change ~ link"War with Iran is already here," wrote a leading Israeli commentator recently, describing "the combination of covert warfare and international pressure" being applied to Iran.

Although not mentioned, the "strategic prize" of the first stage of this war on Iran is Syria; the first campaign in a much wider sectarian power-bid. "Other than the collapse of the Islamic Republic itself," Saudi King Abdullah was reported to have said last summer, "nothing would weaken Iran more than losing Syria."

Israeli Air Force 'Drill' Above Southern Lebanon ~ link ~ A Lebanese newspaper reported Wednesday the Israeli Air Force conducted a three-hour drill in the skies above southern Lebanon. The display was not one the usual surreptitious reconnaissance flight, according to The Daily Star, but allegedly "an unusual show of force" by at least ten warplanes.
