NOTE:  Now that America is landing thousands of troops and moving ahead, almost three months, its deployment of the most advanced air defense systems that it has to Israel, there is all the more incentive for Iran to force a war NOW rather than later.  With each passing day, more and more advanced anti-missile technology will arrive.  They had begun to throw down the gantlet over the last few days in order to take the strategic initiative on the timing of the start of hostilities from the west.  They wanted to beat the US troops and anti-missile technology that was due in Israel for the early March "exercises".  Now that the troops are arriving on an emergency deployment basis, it would be logical for Iran to move the hostilities start (D-Day) to sometime in the next few days.  Stirling

West readies oil plan in case of Iran War - with video  ~ link ~ link ~  Another major sign that war is near.  Stirling
Western powers this week readied a contingency plan to tap a record volume from emergency stockpiles to replace nearly all the Gulf oil that would be lost if Iran blocks the Strait of Hormuz, industry sources and diplomats told Reuters.

They said senior executives of the International Energy Agency (IEA), which advises 28 oil consuming countries, discussed on Thursday an existing plan to release up to 14 million barrels per day (bpd) of government-owned oil stored in the United States, Europe, Japan and other importers.

Iran, Israel and US plan Gulf 'War Games' ~ link ~
Tension in the oil shipping lanes of the Gulf looks set to intensify amid indications that Iran, Israel and the US will hold military exercises designed to test weaponry and tactics.

As the US and European Union press ahead with oil sanctions on Iran, Tehran’s defence minister announced on Friday that the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps will hold large-scale exercises in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf next month.

Iran plans more 'War Games' in Strait of Hormuz as sanctions bite ~ link ~ Iran announced plans on Friday for new military exercises in the world's most important oil shipping lane, the latest in weeks of bellicose gestures towards the West as new sanctions threaten Tehran's oil exports.
Real Admiral Ali Fadavi, naval commander of the Revolutionary Guards Corps, said exercises next month would focus directly on the Strait of Hormuz, which leads out of the Gulf and provides the outlet for most oil from the Middle East.

Syria Interior Ministry: We will respond with 'Iron Fist' to 'terrorist escalation' ~ link ~ Syria's interior ministry said it would respond "with an iron fist" to what it called "terrorist escalation" after a suicide bomb attack on Friday, the third such attack in the capital Damascus in two weeks, state television said.

"We will strike back with an iron fist at anyone who is tempted to play with the security of the country or its citizens," Syria state television quoted Interior Minister Ibrahim al-Shaar as saying.

US recalibrating Iran War Plan ~ link ~ From the recent massacres happening in Iraq and Syria, one can gather that Washington has adamantly trodden on a path which is to be seen as a way to redefine the war in Iraq, an effective stratagem to bring the regime of Assad to its doom and recalibrate a comprehensive plan to topple the Islamic government of Iran.

Iran: A quickly evolving geopolitical imbroglio ~ link ~ As the days go by, the situation with Iran just gets increasingly complex and worrisome given the egregious saber rattling coming from both the West and Iran alike.

As I outlined in my article entitled “Positioning for war with Iran?”, it has become clear that the West is either arming surrounding neighbors as a deterrent, preparing for an unprovoked strike, or perhaps even goading Iran into attacking Western interest first, thus justifying brutal retaliation.

My fledgling series about the global growth of NATO and the Western empire also covers aspects of this greater trend and how these issues constantly evolve, and how so many seemingly disconnected events are in fact inseparably linked.

Royal Navy sends it mightiest warship to take on the Iranian 'show of force' in the Gulf ~ link ~ This is a very advanced powerful high-tech destroyer.  However, the way to overcome its defenses is to fire a very large number of missiles at it at the same time.  Both sides know that.   Stirling

The Daily Telegraph understands that HMS Daring has been fitted with new technology that will give it the ability to shoot down any missile in Iran's armoury. The £1 billion destroyer, which will leave Portsmouth next Wednesday, also carries the world's most sophisticated naval radar, capable of tracking multiple incoming threats from missiles to fighter jets.

A Navy source has indicated that more British ships could be sent to the Gulf if required. The second Type 45, HMS Dauntless, will also be available to sail at short notice.

Behind the Deepening Crisis with Iran: The Real Story Versus the Cover Story ~ link ~ I have said much the same thing many times. Take the time to read all of this story at the link.  Stirling

I believe the US will exploit the situation to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities. But, even more importantly, the US will target Iran’s conventional missiles. Indeed, I believe this is the real reason for US sanctions in the first place, and for the buildup of tensions in recent days. Despite public perceptions, and all the rhetoric about nukes, the present crisis has nothing to do with Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons program. In my opinion, that is just a cover story.

The real issue is the fact that Iran has upgraded its medium range conventionally-armed missiles with GPS technology, making its missiles much more accurate. This means Iran can now target Israel’s own nuclear, bio and chemical weapons stockpiles, located inside Israel, as well as the Dimona nuclear reactor.

In short, Iran has achieved a conventional deterrent to Israel. Therefore, statements by Iranian officials that Iran has no nuclear weapons program are in my view probably correct. Presently, Iran does not need nukes to deter Israel. It can do so with its GPS-guided medium range missiles. The Israelis are no doubt gnashing their teeth over this, because they now find themselves threatened by their own WMD stockpiles, and by their own nuclear reactors, especially Dimona, all of which have become targets.

End of Arab Christianity ~ link ~ Welcome to a Christians-free Middle East. Arab Christianity is near its extinction everywhere. “Christianity in Iraq could be eradicated in our lifetime, partially as a result of the US troop withdrawal,” declared Leonard Leo, chairman of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom.
Up to 900,000 Christians already fled the country since 2003, according to a recent study by Minority Rights Group International. Benjamin Sleiman, archbishop of Baghdad, also spoke of “the extinction of Christianity in the Middle East.”

Senior member of Israeli Christian community stabbed to death in Jaffa ~ link ~ Gabriel Cadis, a senior figure in Jaffa’s Christian community was stabbed to death on Friday evening, during festivities at the St George Church in Jaffa.

Cadis, who served as head of the Orthodox Church Association in Jaffa, was taken to Wolfson Medical Center in Holon, but succumbed to his injuries very quickly.

Getting Out BEFORE the Gate Slams Shut on the US Police State ~ link ~ L: Doug, a lot of readers have been asking for guidance on how to know when it's time to exit center stage and hunker down in some safe place. Few people want to hide from the world in a cabin in the woods while life goes on in the mainstream, but nobody wants to get caught once the gates clang shut on the police state the US is becoming. How do you know when it's time to go?

Doug: Well, the first thing to keep in mind is that it's better to be a year too early than a minute too late. David Galland recently read They Thought They Were Free: The Germans, 1933-45, by Milton Mayer. He quoted a passage in his column of last Friday. It goes a long way in explaining why Americans appear to be such whipped dogs today. They're no different from the Germans of recent memory. For those who missed it, let me quote it:

Eurozone unemployment hits new record ~ link ~
Public spending cuts and collapsing business confidence have sent unemployment in the eurozone to a record 16 million people, up 587,000 on the same month in 2010.

Official figures compiled by Eurostat, the EU's statistics agency, show the heavy toll taken on the workforce by austerity measures and the slowdown in the eurozone economy during 2011.
