Analysis from Jerusalem Post: Word of caution on Assad's fall ~ link ~ Defense Minister Ehud Barak was reported this week as predicting that the regime of Bashar Assad would fall within weeks.
And yet, observers should be careful before confidently predicting the imminent fall of the house of Assad. They have being doing so since April, but the dictator is still there. Notwithstanding his recent absurd performance on ABC News, he may well be with us for some time to come. The factors that have kept him in place so far largely remain.

Israeli officials say Syria's Bashar al-Assad is doomed ~ linkIf he is a 'dead man walking', he is one with a powerful punch that could launch World War III!  Stirling

Obama administration officials have expressed equal certainty that Assad will eventually leave, but they and Arab countries that are trying to persuade him to stand down anticipate a far longer timeline extending well into next year.

“Our view is that this regime is the equivalent of [a] dead man walking,” Frederic Hof, the State Department’s point man for Syria, told a congressional subcommittee Wednesday. “But the real question is, how many steps remain?”

NATO dreams of civil war in Syria ~ link ~ This is one view of the strategic picture of the Middle East, there are others...time will tell which one is correct.   Stirling

Every grain of sand in the Syrian desert now knows there won't be a "responsibility to protect"-enabled North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) “humanitarian” intervention to provoke regime change in Damascus. A protracted war like in Libya is not feasible - even though those faultless democratic practitioners, the House of Saud, have offered to pay for it, lavishly.

Yet the fog of near war remains impenetrable. What is NATO really up to in Syria?

Netanyahu for President of America ~ link ~ It’s now clear that the Republican frontrunner in the race for the White House is Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Officially the two Republican frontrunners are Newt “the Palestinians are an invented people” Gingrich and Mitt “Obama has pushed Israel under a bus” Romney.

The Crown of Creation and the Da Vinci Toad ... Dog Poet transmitting ~ linkAll this has been in play for awhile, with a specific end game in mind and it would be curtains ordinarily but something mysterious always enters the mix when it gets to a certain point. Short of miraculous intervention by aliens or higher dimensional beings, The Middle East is on the clock and due to explode, probably no later than March but I've been wrong before. Hopefully this world changing event, engineered by those who hate the human race, can be averted. Otherwise, nothing will ever be the same again and everything we think and say and do, will be altered and spun out beyond the point of no return. What the ramifications and implication of all that will amount to can't be determined in advance.
There are so many vortexes and whirlpools at work that the possibilities of result are endless; the financial centers, the war rooms, the environmental wrecking crews, the private contractors on standby for the police state. What we don't see are all the heavy bodies emergent behind the mask of the present. Large forces are simmering and shifting, off camera and down the road. Evil chefs are drunk in the kitchen, surrounded by unattended pressure cookers. The political hacks and social maladjusters are all having dinner for one; silly, but not off target in various ways. Off stage there are huge rounds of laughter that have an ominous ring. It's not really funny and that is probably why there is something suspect in the laughter. There is a hollow, mocking tone in the laughter and you get the sense that it's not directed at present shenanigans but rather what they are going to result in.

You don't have 'Constitutional Rights' ~ link ~ Most Americans hold a seventh grade civics notion that the Constitution gives us certain rights. In fact, the Bill of Rights merely sets limits on the federal government, making clear it has no power to infringe on rights we already naturally possess, or limit traditionally held privileges, such as trial by jury. Except for a few procedural rights specifically for the trial process, the Bill of Rights does not actually bestow rights.

Many framers considered a Bill of Rights unnecessary. They argued that the nature of the Constitution rendered it redundant. The Constitution itself only grants the government specified powers. Since the Constitution extends the federal government no power to establish a national religion, they argued that it wasn’t necessary to specifically prohibit it. But others felt it necessary to make explicit certain government limitations, to better protect the liberties of the people. The preamble to the Bill of Rights clarifies its purpose.

Satellite Takes Picture of Chinese Carrier on the move ~ linkThere is one aspect of this that many people are missing.  The Chinese may have designed/developed, manufactured and staffed/trained the ship's full component of fighters.   We are talking about less than 50 aircraft, with more in reserve on land, to quickly make this a valuable 'floating airfield'.  Would the ship and its battle fleet have the firepower/technology/training/experience of a US Navy supercarrier battle fleet...NO WAY.   But that may not be important in some war scenarios.  The Chinese may be 24-hours away, on any given day, from deploying a number of nasty small all-composite VTOL attack aircraft (with long-range and totally stealthed) using technologies developed over the last 30 years. [I have been involved with American aviation design bureaus that used this type of technology going back over a quarter-of-a-century ago.]  While it could use UCAVs (combat drones) and this would enable much larger numbers to be based on the carrier; there are still advantages to having a real human in the aircraft. These specially manufactured high-tech aircraft would be relatively simple to operate/deploy/maintain/re-arm a squadron or wing in combat.  Does China have a break-through coming in the near term with Naval aviation?  Perhaps one linked to various other asymmetrical forms of warfare???  At times like these, it pays to think about such things.   Stirling

High-Seas stabbing of South Korean commando by Chinese ship captain worsens ties with China ~ link ~ I linked to the event story some time back.  Something tells me that there is more to this story than we are seeing.  What we are seeing, in a global strategic sense, is the setting up of War Theaters for the coming World War III.   Stirling

Seething tensions between China and South Korea over fishing in the Yellow Sea escalated Tuesday with the killing of a South Korean coast guard commando by the captain of a Chinese fishing vessel in hotly disputed waters.

South Korean coast guard commandos finally subdued the captain, and seized his vessel and eight-man crew, said South Korean officials, but not until the leader of the commando team was mortally wounded and another team member was injured. The dying commando and the injured team member were flown to the port city of Incheon, approximately 100 miles to the east, in the same helicopter with the Chinese fishing boat captain.

Panetta Says Drone Campaign Over Iran WILL CONTINUE  ~ link ~ The flying of unauthorized military aircraft over another nation can be viewed as an Act of War under International Law.  Stirling

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, in an exclusive interview with Fox News, said that the stealth drone campaign along the Iran-Afghanistan border will "absolutely" continue despite the loss of a valuable and sophisticated drone to Iran.

The mysterious loss of the RQ-170 Sentinel drone has revealed not only that the U.S. was spying on Iran, but also that the program was being run from Shindad Air Base in western Afghanistan.

17 Signs that the European Financial System is heading for an implosion of historic proportions ~ link ~ What happens when you attempt a cold shutdown of one of the biggest debt spirals that the world has ever seen?  Well, we are about to find out.  The politicians in Europe have decided that they are going to "take their medicine" and put strict limits on budget deficits.  They have also decided that the European Central Bank is not going to engage in reckless money printing to "paper over" the debts of troubled nations.  This may all sound wonderful to many of you, but the reality is that there is always a tremendous amount of pain whenever a massive debt spiral is interrupted.  Just look at what happened to Greece.  Greece was forced to raise taxes and implement brutal austerity measures.  That caused the economy to slow down and tax revenues to decline and so government debt figures did not improve as much as anticipated.  So Greece was forced to implement even more brutal austerity measures.  Well, that caused the economy to slow down even more and tax revenues declined again.  In Greece this cycle has been repeated several times and now Greece is experiencing a full-blown economic depression.  100,000 businesses have closed and a third of the population is living in poverty.  But now Germany and France intend to impose the "Greek solution" on the rest of Europe.  This is going to create the conditions needed for a "perfect storm" to develop and it means that the European financial system is heading for an implosion of historic proportions.
