Rome protest against cuts descends into violence - with video ~ link ~ Riot police have fought militant protesters in Rome as the biggest of a series of global rallies against banks and politicians tipped into violence. At least 70 people were injured, three of them seriously, as police fought masked rioters with tear gas, water cannon and batons. Other protesters tried to stop the rioters as they attacked cars and businesses, marring a peaceful rally.
The day saw coordinated protests in cities worldwide, most of them small. Inspired by the Occupy Wall St movement and Spain's "Indignants", demonstrators turned out from Asia to Europe and back to New York for an event organisers said on their website was aimed at initiating "global change". "United in one voice, we will let politicians, and the financial elites they serve, know it is up to us, the people, to decide our future," they added.

In hindsight, it is obvious which choice the government made. We are seeing wealth confiscation, no different than when FDR confiscated the gold from the American people to save the banks, only this time, done in a covert way to trick Americans into thinking it was their own fault they lost their homes. But again, this was the result of official US policy which gave tax credits to corporations that actually encouraged offshoring of American jobs. In short, the US Government took their jobs to make it easer for the banks to take their homes, to save themselves from going to prison over the mortgage-backed securities fraud.
Iceland had the right solution. They tossed the crooked bankers in jail and fired the government that tried to loot the people to save those bankers and Iceland's economy is already on the rise. (Which is why you don't see much mention of them any more in the American media.

Thousands of people have gathered at St. James Park in the heart of downtown Toronto, where protesters will set up camp for an undetermined length of time to demand changes to global finance. The Occupy Toronto movement, designed to run in concert with similar protests in New York and around the world, began Saturday morning with a march up Bay Street. Some protesters brought food and camping gear, intending to hunker down for the duration at the park near Adelaide and Jarvis streets.
Sid Ryan, president of the Ontario Federation of Labour, was on hand to endorse the movement.“Most of the issues they’re complaining about, we’ve been fighting them for decades,” Mr. Ryan said, citing high unemployment, bank bailouts and the rising debt load for post-secondary students. “People are madder than hell… I think it will become a political movement of sorts,” Mr. Ryan said, noting the specific messages and desired outcomes of Occupy Toronto would become clearer in the coming days.

President Obama is in deep re-election trouble, for not only do the majority of Americans not trust the global elite and Wall Street but that mistrust also extends to Obama ~ whose re-election campaign pockets are lined with ongoing donations from his corporate base. In essence, American taxpayers are being ripped off by Wall Street and Obama is being paid off to look the other way: Allen L Roland.

America has been looted by Wall Street, the Banking Barons and the Corporate oligarchy but a staggering Main Street, robbed of everything, is rapidly arising from their stupor, awakened by the Internet, and are beginning to demand truth and transparency ~ the first important steps toward freedom, true democracy and the resurrection of the fifth Estate ( the people).
