Turkey seizes Syrian ship, announces arms embargo ~ link ~ These are Acts of War under international law, but more importantly they signal that Turkey, for all its bluster against Israel, is fully on-board the 'war on Syria and Iran' bandwagon.   Syria is the backdoor to war on Iran and Lebanon and Gaza/Palestine and a General Middle East War and World War III.   This is a major move on the geopolitical chessboard!  One that does not bode well for peace.   Stirling
Turkey has seized a Syrian-flagged ship and will intercept any arms shipments headed to Syria, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan said late on Friday, a response to Damascus' bloody crackdown on anti-government protesters.

Speaking to reporters in New York late on Friday where he attended the UN General Assembly, Erdogan said Turkey had stopped a Syrian-flagged ship in Marmara, according to state-run Anatolia News Agency. It did not indicate whether the ship was stopped in the Sea of Marmara or the port of Marmara.

EU announces new sanctions on Syria ~ link ~ The globalists do so want to kick off WWIII soon!  Stirling
New sanctions against Syria came into effect on Saturday, in wake of a recent maritime arms shipment seizure by Turkey.

Both the European Union and Switzerland have targeted Syria's oil sector in new sanctions, with the EU banning new investments there and prohibiting the delivery of bank notes to Syria's central bank.
The Syrian Regime: Struggle for survival and implications for its fall ~ link Will the Syrian opposition bring the regime down? Although it is difficult to foretell the future, I do not believe the Syrian opposition is capable of bringing the regime down on its own, unless there is a split in the armed forces, which at the moment seems unlikely. Despite some six months of demonstrations, propaganda, Western sanctions and backing, the opposition has little to show besides remaining in the streets. The armed forces have maintained solidarity, and there has been little or no disaffection within the regime. Furthermore, the Syrian regime is not without support domestically. It is backed by the military as already mentioned, and probably by more than 50 percent of the people, including Alawites, Christians and Druze. Not even all Sunni Muslims are against the regime. The Sunni business class of Damascus and Aleppo, along with important Sunni clerics, back the regime. Additionally, the Asad regime is not exclusively Alawite. It has never been. Sunnis, Christians and Druze have always been part of the regime. Moreover, Syrians question the nature and motives of the opposition. How can they entrust their future to a disparate opposition, which can’t get its act together and present a coherent program? How can they trust an opposition that is backed by three Western powers despite their negative history in the Arab world?

Incidentally, the same Western powers that back the Syrian opposition have backed the Libyan rebels, and they have already started bickering over the division of Libyan oil!

Turkey likely to deploy Predator drones ~ link ~ The U.S. will likely deploy some Predator drones on Turkish soil, the Turkish prime minister said Friday. Turkey has been pressing for the drones in an escalating war against Kurdish rebels.
The U.S. shares drone surveillance data from northern Iraq with Ankara to aid its fight against Kurdish rebels who have bases in Iraq. The two countries have been negotiating the possible deployment of Predator drones after the U.S. leaves Iraq.

Netanyahu is not a Netanyahu ~ link ~ Yesterday – September 23, 2011 – an historic event took place at the 66th meeting of the UN General Assembly. Mahmoud Abbas - speaking for the Palestinian people - asked from the UN member states to accept Palestine as an equal member of this exclusive club. Minutes later, Benjamin Netanyahu answered on behalf of the State of Israel, the UN-member oppressing the aspirant state. The speeches can be downloaded from this website (Abbas, Netanyahu); citations from these files would be used in this article.

The differences between the two events were dramatic. Abbas was welcomed with a standing ovation of an almost full room, a rare event at the General Assembly. In sharp contrast, when Netanyahu spoke, the UN television cameras were careful to show only narrow angles of the assembly. Not even once the full room could be appreciated; apparently that was the result of many members leaving in protest during Netanyahu’s speech, the UN television was careful not to spoil Israel’s image. It is also important to remark that many states have already recognized Palestine and have declared that openly during their head of state speeches at the current assembly.

PA unhappy with 'incomplete' Quartet "peace initiative"  ~ link ~ The Palestinian Authority is unhappy with the Quartet’s latest initiative to launch peace talks with Israel because it is “incomplete,” PA Foreign Minister Riad Malki said on Saturday.

He pointed out that the initiative, which was launched over the weekend after PA President Mahmoud Abbas submitted to UN General-Secretary Ban Ki-moon an official request for full membership in the UN, does not call for a cessation of settlement construction or for a pullout to the pre-1967 lines.

Palestinian Foreign Minister: Quartet proposal favors Israel ~ link ~ I am shocked, shocked I tell you...NOT!  Always Israel treats the Arabs as sub-humans who are in the way; and makes sure that those it bribes and blackmails do the same.  Stirling

Haaretz: Netanyahu doesn't miss an opportunity to avoid peace ~ link ~  Mark my words, Bibi 666 Netanyahu will go down in history as the one man most responsible for World War III.   Stirling

The comment by Israeli statesman Abba Eban, that the Palestinians never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity, was so popular - and not only in Israel - that even U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger quoted it often. Now the joke is on us. Israel is the one that doesn't miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity for an agreement. About two years ago, in the Bar-Ilan speech, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared two states for two peoples. But since then he has not lifted a finger to make it come true. No trick, no speech, no maneuver can change the facts: that he is the prime minister with the greatest parliamentary support, and there is no decision for compromise that he could not have passed in the Knesset.

Had he wanted to reach an agreement he could have done so in spite of the difficulties and the obstacles. But he has a 100-year-old father who wouldn't forgive him for giving up Greater Israel, a wife who doesn't make the road to an agreement easy for him, and a political milieu that opposes decisions that involve giving up territories.

Abbas: UN debate on Palestinian statehood bid will take weeks, not months ~ link ~ Speaking to journalists on his plane back from the General Assembly in New York, where he presented the request, Abbas said Security Council members had initially appeared unenthusiastic about the idea of discussing the application.
But he said the mood appeared to change after he delivered a speech to the General Assembly on Friday, during which he pressed the Palestinian case for an independent state alongside Israel.

Mideast Quartet sets timetable for renewed Israeli-Palestinian talks ~ linkThe Quartet, which has been working for months to try to find a formula to restart talks, said its new timetable aimed to reach a peace agreement before the end of 2012.

The statement, issued after a meeting between UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, also called on parties to refrain from "provocative actions."

Man tries to assault Erdogan in UN ~ link ~ Erdogan's bodyguards immediately stopped the man. Erdogan himself was not injured during the incident.

Minister of Diplomacy and Diaspora Affairs Yuli Edelstein, who witnessed the attack outside the General Assembly hall, described it as a "very violent incident. Like a scene out of a movie."

Vladimir Putin on course to be Russia's next president as Dmitry Medvedev steps aside ~ linkIn a glitzy appearance before thousands of cheering supporters in a Soviet-era football stadium in Moscow, Mr Putin, currently the prime minister, accepted a stage-managed proposal from Dmitry Medvedev, the current president, to run for the presidency on a ticket for the ruling United Russia party in March next year.

"I want to thank you for the positive reaction to the proposal for me to stand for Russian president," said Mr Putin, beaming broadly to loud applause. "For me this is a great honour."

Palestine to sue Israel when UN member ~ link ~ When/if the UN General Assembly grants membership and recognition to Palestine as a sovereign state, that will change a number of things under international law in Palestine's favor.  One key reason that the Netanyahu Government will do just about anything to stop this from happening.     Stirling

Mohammed Mustafa Abu Jawhir said in Shiraz on Saturday that one of the reasons for the Israeli opposition to the Palestinian statehood bid is that if Palestine becomes a UN member, it will file a suit against Israel for war crimes, ISNA reported.

“If we are recognized as a an independent state that is a member of the UN, we can complain to the UN As a member state that has been invaded by another member and this organization will be forced to intervene,” he added.

Foreign Minister Lieberman warns Netanyahu of coalition break-up if punitive measures aren't taken against the Palestinians ~ link ~ Lieberman is a mad dog, a hyper-racist nut that has no place in any government, much less in one with hundreds and hundreds of thermonuclear weapons!   Lieberman use to be a bouncer in a Eastern European mob nightclub and it shows.   Stirling

Israel's Foreign Minister has warned Benjamin Netanyahu that the governing coalition will fall part if the Prime Minister doesn't take punitive measures against the Palestinian Authority for its decision to bid for independent statehood at the United Nations. A report in Israel's Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper claims that Avigdor Lieberman has demanded that Netanyahu responds to the unilateral Palestinian step by cancelling the Oslo Accords, annexing the large West Bank settlement blocs and withholding tax transfers to the Authority.

Earlier reports said that Lieberman had threatened the Palestinians with "very serious" consequences in the event of a UN vote in favour of an independent state. Israel, claimed Lieberman, "won't stand still" if a Palestinian state is recognised by the UN. Lieberman's deputy, Danny Ayalon, backed the call for punitive measures, although he expects the UN to reject the Palestinian application.

Multi-Trillion plan to save the Eurozone being prepared ~ link ~ Another BS plan based on more debt to save a system that already has toxic levels of debt!   Stirling

German and French authorities have begun work on a three-pronged strategy behind the scenes amid escalating fears that the eurozone’s sovereign debt crisis is spiralling out of control.

Their aim is to build a “firebreak” around Greece, Portugal and Ireland to prevent the crisis spreading to Italy and Spain, countries considered “too big to bail”.

World is on Eve of Next Financial Crisis over Sovereign Debt ~ link ~ This "circuit breaker" is what the story just above this is about.  We will see if it works, and for how long.  Don't hold your breath on this one.   Stirling

The world is on the eve of the next financial crisis, with sovereign debt its epicenter, said Mohamed El-Erian, chief executive officer of Pacific Investment Management Co., which runs the biggest bond fund.

The European Central Bank hasn’t put in place a “circuit breaker” to contain the region’s debt crisis, El-Erian, who is also Pimco’s co-chief investment officer, said at an event in Washington today.

Europe Hastens to build up Debt Crisis Defense ~ link ~ Finance chiefs from around the world have turned up the heat on Europe to do more to prevent Greece's debt woes from infecting other euro zone countries and the world economy.

Concern now appeared to be turning towards safeguarding the banking system more than rescuing Greece, as international lenders were increasingly losing patience with Athens consistently missing fiscal and reform targets.

Greece gripped by more anti-austerity strikes - with video ~ link ~ I like the Greek people, they are not afraid to tell the evil Global Banking Cartel families to 'go to Hell'.    Stirling

Rolling off the 3D printing press - The World's first 'printed' car and it actually works ~ link ~ This new way of creating composite material is a key step in the future of manufacturing.   Stirling

The 'Urbee' was made using a special printer which built up layer upon layer of bodywork - almost as if the car was 'painted' into existence, except using layers of ultra-thin composite that are slowly 'fused' into a solid.

But unlike most 'innovations' in cars, this one won't break down after 5 years - Urbee is built to last 30. Project leader Jim Kor, told MailOnline today: 'For us, this unveiling was quite a milestone.

Obama secretly sold Israel 55 powerful bunker-buster bombs that even Bush refused to sell to Israel ~ link ~ These are apt to be used soon.   Stirling

Pope 'shaken' by talks with sex abuse victims in Germany ~ link ~ We have heard all of this before.  If he really is 'shaken' then do something about it!  End the rules of male celibacy and flush the 60% of gay priests into retirement and clean up the mess that you helped to create by doing nothing as a top aide to Pope John Paul II and during your time as Pope.  Stirling
