Revolutions in North Africa and the Middle East - Who Really Benefits?  Will they continue to spread throughout the world in the wake of global food shortages, global depression, and Austerity Fascism?  by Lord Stirling ~ link

Advanced Biological Warfare (article by Lord Stirling) ~ link ~ I have a link to a free movie on Hulu, BLACK DAWN: THE NEXT PANDEMIC, that is most interesting.  The movie is about the spread of a naturally occurring mutation in the H5N1 virus; a rather nasty mutation that kills up to 10% of those it effects.  I strongly urge people to take the time to view this movie, as it shows the impact of what a single naturally occurring virus mutation can do.  In reality, a global strategic Advanced Biological-based war would be at least ten-fold as bad and more likely a hundred-fold in its impact as the viruses would be military designer-created (recombination DNA) diseases with a much stronger kill ratio (90% or higher fatality level from an infection) and there would likely be many dozens of viruses released at the same time, instead of only one disease.

Before we allow hardliners in Israel take us into yet another war, we need to take a very hard and realistic look at just what a war involving MAD on all sides would mean to Israel, to Europe, to North America and the entire world.

Ancient Scottish Barony Title for sale.  There are about 100 Scottish feudal baronies  that still exist; only a handful are from the very ancient Baronage of the Isles, as this one is.  In a time of economic crisis, it pays to put some of your wealth into important artwork, properties, etc. of rare value.  This is one of the most rare things that can be purchased and held. Is Barack Obama about to order the US military to invade Libya ~ link ~ As insane as it might sound, the United States may soon be getting involved in another war in the Middle East. According to White House spokesman Jay Carney, “no options” have been taken off the table when it comes to the situation in Libya. By saying that “all options” are being considered, that is basically a way for the Obama administration to threaten Gadhafi without actually coming right out and threatening him. In recent days, news reports have been appearing all over the mainstream media hyping the possibility that we may have to take military action in Libya. This would not be happening if the White House did not want it to happen. The truth is that Barack Obama is apparently seriously considering U.S. military action in Libya. At first that would probably consist of air strikes and missile attacks, but if the Obama administration decides that it is going to take ground forces to get the job done then we could eventually see the U.S. military actually invade Libya. But the truth is that any military intervention in Libya would be a really, really bad idea. Is it really wise to stick our young men and women into the middle of an incredibly bloody civil war? Do we want to spill even more American blood in order to protect “U.S. interests”? Do we really want to spend young American lives to keep the price of oil low? The truth is that the world hates us enough already. How much more will they hate us if we decide to start bombing Libya into oblivion?

All kinds of justifications are already being floated for potential military action in Libya. Barack Obama is publicly declaring that the killing of civilians in Libya has got to stop. As if the U.S. government cares so much about the deaths of civilians. Millions upon millions of Africans have been slaughtered in Africa over the last couple of decades in numerous civil wars and we have not intervened.
So why now?

FOX News: Those close to Gaddafi says he's ready to use biological and chemical weapons on protesters - video  ~ link ~ Take everything that FOX News says with about a ton of salt.   Stirling

Wisconsin police have joined protest inside State Capitol - with video ~ linkFrom inside the Wisconsin State Capitol, RAN ally Ryan Harvey reports:  “Hundreds of cops have just marched into the Wisconsin state capitol building to protest the anti-Union bill, to massive applause. They now join up to 600 people who are inside.”

Ryan reported on his Facebook page earlier today: “Police have just announced to the crowds inside the occupied State Capitol of Wisconsin: ‘We have been ordered by the legislature to kick you all out at 4:00 today. But we know what’s right from wrong. We will not be kicking anyone out, in fact, we will be sleeping here with you!’ Unreal.”

Libya: Who is propping up Gaddafi ~ link ~ Good article, it points out the difficulty of any 'revolution' taking him out without outside military intervention.  Stirling

Unlike in Egypt or Tunisia, it is not the conventional military that holds the balance of power in Libya. Instead, it is a murky network of paramilitary brigades, "revolutionary committees" of trusted followers, tribal leaders and imported foreign mercenaries.

The actual Libyan Army is almost symbolic, a weakened and emaciated force of little more than 40,000, poorly armed and poorly trained. It is part of Col Muammar Gaddafi's long-term strategy to eliminate the risk of a military coup, which is how he himself came to power in 1969. So the defection this month of some elements of the army to the protesters in Benghazi is unlikely to trouble Col Gaddafi. Not only can he do without them, his security apparatus has not hesitated to call in air strikes on their barracks in the rebellious east of the country.

So, who is propping up his regime and allowing it to stay in power while two of its neighbouring leaders have fled amid a massive momentum for regime change throughout the Middle East?

Libya Protests:  Tripoli residents say civilians being armed: UN plans meeting ~ link ~ The Libyan leader, speaking from the ramparts of a historic Tripoli fort, told supporters to prepare to defend the nation as he faced the biggest challenge to his 42-year rule, with rebels having seized control of about half of the country's coastline.

"At the suitable time, we will open the arms depot so all Libyans and tribes become armed, so that Libya becomes red with fire," Gadhafi said.

Tunis police use tear gas to disperse demonstrators ~ link ~ Looks like the Tunisian people are beginning to wake up to the fact that "their" revolution did not succeed in changing thing enough.   Stirling
Demonstrators in central Tunis 26/02/2011 Saturday's protest followed a big rally the previous day against some interim cabinet members
The renewed protest comes a day after police cleared huge crowds from the streets demanding the resignation of the interim prime minister. That was the biggest rally since the president fled after weeks of unrest. On Friday police fired tear gas and warning shots to disperse demonstrators.

Although Mr Ghannouchi has introduced some reforms and removed a number of controversial cabinet members, protesters remain angry that figures from Mr Ben Ali's authoritarian government remain in the interim cabinet.

Overcoming divide and conquer strategies: 99.9% of the US population should support the public unions fight against occupying economic imperialists ~ link ~
Quick Summary: The global bankers, who caused our economic crisis, are attempting to deflect blame and divide the American public by escalating attacks on public-sector workers. The battle in Wisconsin, which is spreading across the entire nation, should be viewed in a global economic context. Do not let the obsolete Republican vs. Democrat charade confuse you. Even if you believe Unions have been corrupted, in this case you have to go with the strategy: “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
The Global Economic Elite have launched a war on 99.9% of the US public, we must unite and rally together. Unions have played a key role in uprisings from Europe to the Middle East. We must seize this opportunity and let Wisconsin be a spark to light the fires of non-violent rebellion throughout the United States.

Bill Clinton: Too much ethanol could spark food riots ~ link ~ For once I agree with Slick Willie.   Stirling
With global food prices rising and more corn being diverted to the production of ethanol fuel, Bill Clinton is warning of food riots in poor nations.

The former president told farmers and Agriculture Department employees on Thursday that while producing biofuels is important for reducing America's dependence on foreign oil, farmers should also look beyond domestic production and consider the needs of developing countries.

"I think the best thing to say is we have to become energy independent, but we don't want to do it at the cost of food riots," Clinton said.

Senator Franken says Governor Walker simply trying to "bust unions" ~ link ~ It is that and more, the 'narrative' that is being established is the Americans version of Austerity Fascism that we are seeing in Europe.  We are being told that we have to bust unions, and reduce the wages of Middle Class Americans because of the huge budget deficits.  The reality is that the global banking cartel, and its bought-and-paid-for political whores, have raped the public to the max with vast economic crimes (with not even a single criminal charge having been brought against them), then re-raped us all to something like $30 TRILLION in 'bail-out' spending to save their banks/etc., and now they want the other 99% of the population to PAY, PAY AND PAY THROUGH THE NOSE.  If we fired all public service employees in every state, it still would not fix the economic disaster that they deliberately created!  They are creating a diversion "arguing over rearranging the deck chairs on the sinking Titanic" (the American economy and the Middle Class).  It is time to demand that the criminals on Wall Street go to prison, to demand the political reforms necessary to take the corruption of money out of the political process.  Stirling

Libya revolution: Future scenarios and the West's role ~ link ~ Interesting article but I disagree with the idea that the 'west' needs to send in troops.  The Libyans can handle their own mess.  Stirling

Gaddafi's empire crumbles as his inner circle abandon him ~ link ~ From the desert sands of North Africa to the diplomatic salons of New York, the pillars of Muammar Gaddafi's dictatorship crumbled as rapidly as rebels advanced across Libya last week.

Even as he claimed in his rambling televised speech on Tuesday that "all the tribes support me", it was becoming clear that once rival tribal leaders were uniting against him.
"We tell brother Gaddafi – well, he's no longer a brother – we tell him to leave the country," said Akram al Warfalli, a leading figure in the Warfalla, in a stinging rebuke from the country's biggest tribe, estimated to number one million of the total population of six million.

Smaller tribes in the east have already allied themselves with the rebellion. Crucially, the loyalties of the second largest tribe, the Magariha – whose members include Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber released from a Scottish prison in 2009 – remained unclear. If - or as many predict, when - they join the revolt, then even Gaddafi's innermost circle may realise it is time to abandon their old master.

Irish national election: Enda Kenny claims opposition victory ~ link
Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny (26 Feb 2011) Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny is likely to seek a coalition with the Labour Party
The Irish Republic's main opposition leader Enda Kenny has said his party has won a "massive endorsement" to govern after parliamentary elections. He said the country had given Fine Gael a clear mandate "to provide stable and strong government with a clear agenda".

Ireland's dominant party for generations, Fianna Fail, is facing a crushing defeat. It called the vote, months after its governing coalition negotiated an 85bn-euro (£72bn) EU/IMF loan package. The Irish Republic is the first EU member state to have received a financial bail-out to go to the polls. Mr Kenny has made it clear that he will try to re-negotiate the terms of the bail-out.

Fianna Fail government routed ~ link ~ They are very lucky if routed in an election is all that happens to them.  After fighting English occupation for centuries, the Irish people witnessed the corrupt bastards in the old/existing government selling the entire nation out to the global banksters and their IMF and EU.   The political whores are very lucky not to be hanging from Dublin lampposts.  Stirling

The Pakistanis see the Third World War coming relatively soon and they know that they will be on the side opposite of USA/NATO/Israel/India and they are now saying NO to the massive sums of money that the 'western' intelligence agencies have been spreading around to facilitate their cooperation.  They are concerned about our 'interest' in their nuclear weapons program, storage facilities, etc.  Stirling

Israeli forces fire on hundreds in the West Bank ~ link ~   Israeli forces fired rubber-coated bullets at protesters in the West Bank city of Hebron on Friday afternoon, where clashes left at least nine people injured, Palestinian medics and the Israeli army said. Four international activists and two Palestinians were detained, organizers said. The military said that only one person was arrested.  The Palestinians injured by rubber-coated bullets were transferred to the Hebron and Al-Ahli hospitals, Red Crescent officials said. The Israeli army also said five border police officers were injured.

The demonstration, which called for the reopening of one of the city's main streets, came on the anniversary of the 1994 massacre of 29 Palestinians in Hebron by a Jewish extremist.
Protesters, who waved Palestinian flags chanting "Down with the occupation!" and "Hebron is Palestinian," said they were trying to reopen central Shuhada (Martyrs) Street, once home to the city's main market.  Israel largely closed off the street, citing security, after the 1994 massacre in the Ibrahimi Mosque.

US Army wants rapid-fire rubber bullets for crowd control ~ linkTHE US army is planning to field "rubber bullets" for machine guns. Military officials claim the ammunition will allow them to more effectively quell violent protests without loss of life, but human rights campaigners are alarmed by the new weapon.

The final design for the XM1044 round has not been selected, according to an order placed on the Federal Business Opportunities website last ..., but the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate has been working on a ring aerofoil projectile for some years. The round is a hollow plastic cylinder 40 millimetres across, looking something like a short toilet-paper roll. In flight its shape generates lift, giving it a longer range.

The army's existing crowd-control rounds are single shots fired from handheld grenade launchers with a range of about 50 metres - the XM1044 would double this range. It would be supplied in belts for the Mk19 grenade launcher, a truck-mounted weapon that can fire almost six rounds per second. The Mk19 has been exported to some 30 countries, including Egypt.
