Ancient Scottish Barony Title for sale.  There are about 100 Scottish feudal baronies  that still exist; only a handful are from the very ancient Baronage of the Isles, as this one is.  In a time of economic crisis, it pays to put some of your wealth into important artwork, properties, etc. of rare value.  This is one of the most rare things that can be purchased and held. For sale at US$150,000 ~ link

Revival of a Military Option: Israel's Covert War Against Iran Is On ~ link ~ Of course it is.  Israel cannot exist, or so some of its evil leaders believe, without war, war, and more war.  The trouble is, Iran will not allow itself to be destroyed like Iraq.  They have spent billions and almost 20 years building up a MAD (mutually assured destruction) Counter-Force with two levels: [1] The massive number (50,000 to 60,000) of rockets and guided missiles in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran aimed at Israel with conventional, Advanced Conventional (fuel-air explosive), chemical, Advanced Biological, Radiological warheads; [2] An Advanced Biological capability against North America and the EU that can kill between one-third and two-thirds of the population.  Bibi 666 Netanyahu, Barak, and Lieberman and the most of the rest of the Cabinet are going to get not only their nation wiped out, but most of the world killed with their evil insanity.  Ultimately this is a Spiritual Battle between Satan and his followers (global banking families, Netanyahu and his followers) and God and His followers.  It has been a long time in the coming and we are entering the final stage of the End Times now.  Get Ready!   Stirling
On the eve of talks between Iran and the West, the German weekly of record published a devastating expose’ of Israeli covert operations against the Islamic Republic, including targeted assassinations. The cover story of the popular weekly Der Spiegel, entitled “David’s Avengers: Israel’s secret killer-commandos,“ hit the newsstands and arrived in subscribers’ mailboxes on Monday January 17, just four days before talks were to open in Turkey, between Iran and the 5+1 group – the five UN Security Council permanent members plus Germany.
The well-researched story, subtitled, “The Invisible War,” documents what every government knows but few will dare to say. “Sabotage and assassination attempts against Iranian scientists are regarded as standard weapons in the arsenal of the Israeli secret service, Mossad,” runs the introductory blurb; “They are supposed to set back the mullahs’ nuclear program. The latter react by arresting presumed perpetrators.” The gist of the report is that, through a coordinated series of operations, from assassinations of nuclear scientists, support for ethnic terrorists, and computer virus attacks (Stuxnet), the Mossad has in fact succeeded in halting progress on Iran’s nuclear program, thus postponing the date when the Mossad and others reckon that Tehran might achieve a military nuclear capability. A clear indication of Mossad’s success cited is the assessment by outgoing chief Meir Dagan, that Iran could not reach that capability before 2015 at the earliest. Dagan, said to be opposed to military action against Iran on grounds it would backfire, is the one who led this invisible warfare. In contrast, those Israeli leaders ideologically committed to conflict with Iran, like Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and others, have trumpeted the notion that Iran is on the verge of developing the bomb, as a way of demanding enhanced sanctions as well as continuing threats of military action, by Washington, of course. (1) From the US, the assessment has tended to dovetail with Dagan’s, because the Americans have been not only privy to, but complicit in the covert war.

Israel is the problem. First, it is the only nuclear military power in the region, yet has neither signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty, nor therefore allowed the International Atomic Energy Agency to pry into its facilities.  Yet, the major world powers have tacitly adhered to the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy whereby Israel does not acknowledge its nuclear warheads, but asserts it will never be the first to use them. And whenever anyone raises the issue at the IAEA or UN, it is shot down.
Secondly, Israel has cheerfully ignored any and all international pressure to seriously engage in negotiations towards peace with the Palestinians. The most blatant expression of Tel Aviv’s impudence in this regard has been its categorical refusal to halt settlements on occupied Palestinian land including East Jerusalem.  Now, with release of the Palestine Papers by Aljazeera, insult has been added to injury. The leaked papers make two claims: that the Palestinian Authority, desperate to clinch a deal, made wide-ranging concessions on all critical issues (refugees, land, East Jerusalem, settlements) and that the Israelis consistently demanded more.  (How the documents were obtained and given to Aljazeera is an important question. And, who filmed the negotiating sessions? Did the participants know they were being filmed? If one asks cui bono? – who benefits? – then Israel would be the likely answer: the leaks have discredited, if not humiliated, the Palestinian leadership, potentially fuelling the conflict between it and Hamas, while the Israelis come across as obstinately committed to keeping the occupied territories and expelling the Palestinians from a purely Jewish state – nothing new. ) Also see: Military Strike On Iran Is What United Netanyahu And Barak ~ link ~ This crap is way beyond crazy, and it is time to say it.  It is satanic in nature, Bibi is the Biblical Antichrist in my opinion!   Stirling
The activist view against Iran unites Barak and Netanyahu and gives sense to their shared place in the country's leadership. Bolstered by the incoming chief of staff, Yoav Galant, who is considered a supporter of their position, the prime minister and defense minister will seek to foil the Iranian nuclear program in their remaining time in office. Their move to offload the Labor ministers who opposed Barak sought to keep Barak in his defense minister's chair. Concerns that Barak may be forced to resign in April because of Labor's infighting have been lifted.

Without Barak by his side, Netanyahu would find it hard to advance aggressive moves on the Iranian front. Netanyahu has no military record that grants him supreme defense authority, as Ariel Sharon had. Only Barak, with his ranks and medals, his seniority as a former prime minister, can give Netanyahu this kind of backing.

The press conference of former Mossad chief Meir Dagan undermined the view of Barak and Netanyahu: If the timetable for an Iranian bomb has been pushed back to 2015, there is no need to send the bombers to Natanz this year. But they have not given in. Barak's political-security chief at the Defense Ministry, Amos Gilad, was quick to warn that the Iranian timetable is even shorter, and Dagan took back some of his statements yesterday at the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, apparently under pressure by the prime minister.

Netanyahu and Barak have hinted over the past two weeks that Israel is on the verge of a surprising diplomatic move. In his address to foreign reporters, Netanyahu promised that in 2011 "the truth will emerge" about who really wants peace in the region.

Brazil's Rousseff Rethinks French Fafale jet fighter deal ~ link ~ Technology transfer is the key to the jet fighter purchase, given the Brazilian government’s military aims. The Dassault offer carried the highest price tag among the three finalists for the bid, estimated at roughly $6 billion. That figure amounts to almost one-fifth of Brazilian defense spending for the year 2009, according to data compiled by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. The French company sweetened its offer, however, with a total technology transfer that would allow Brazil to assemble and sell the planes in the future. France has become a strategic ally for Brazil in recent years—investing in Brazil’s air company Embraer to develop military transport planes, and partnering with Brazil to construct French-designed submarines and a naval shipyard to build them.

But postponing the deal until next year reopens the politically charged debate over who will receive the lucrative defense contract. Now,
Saab of Sweden and Boeing of the United States are back in the running. The Saab offer carries the lowest price tag and the Brazilian Air Force supported the Swedish company in its technical evaluation of the bid. But Rousseff has shown she is willing to consider the Boeing Super Hornet proposal more carefully if it can offer similar technology transfer as Dassault’s. To secure that, Boeing would need approval from the U.S. Congress, and Rousseff has asked Chairman of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee John McCain (R-AZ) to explore the possibility, reports Reuters.

Argentina's Corn Crop Forecast Cut 4.9% on Drought ~ link ~ Little by little the total global food amount shrinks as the banksters drive up prices all the more by speculation/hedge funds/etc.   Stirling

Food costs serve up trouble ~ link ~ Get ready for a rocky year. From now on, rising prices, powerful storms, severe droughts and floods, and other unexpected events are likely to play havoc with the fabric of global society, producing chaos and political unrest. Start with a simple fact: the prices of basic food staples are already approaching or exceeding their 2008 peaks, that year when deadly riots erupted in dozens of countries around the world.

La Nina Raises Drought Risk for USA ~ link ~ We are the breadbasket for much of the world.  We have been seeing crop disasters in Eurasia, South America, South Africa, and Australia.  If America has a bad crop year, the world will see many, very many, of millions of deaths from starvation, especially if this nightmare has 'help' from the banksters/Wall Street with food speculation and hedge funds/etc.   Stirling

Cocoa Jumps to One-Year High as Ivory Coast Leader Bans Exports ~ link ~ Cocoa climbed in New York to the highest price in almost a year after the president-elect of Ivory Coast, the world’s largest producer, barred exports for a month.
Alassane Ouattara, the internationally recognized winner of a Nov. 28 election, suspended all cocoa and coffee shipments as of today to cut off funds to incumbent President Laurent Gbagbo, who refuses to stand down. The country’s main exporters agreed to the ban, Malick Tohe, an adviser to Ouattara’s government, said by telephone from Abidjan yesterday.

Food Crisis II ~ link

"US Crop Stock Forecasts Deepen Fears of Food Crisis” read a recent Financial Times headline. The US government cut its estimate for key crops. This came only a week after the UN warned the world faces “food price shock.” Corn and soybean prices jumped and now sit at 30-month highs. Inventories are very tight. Corn is up 94% since June!
And the world worries about a repeat of 2008, when food riots erupted in poor countries around the world.

Tunisia and the IMF's Diktats:  How Macro-
Economic Policy Triggers Worldwide Poverty and Unemployment ~ link

General Zine el Abidine Ben Ali , the defunct and deposed president of Tunisia is heralded by the Western media, in chorus, as a dictator. The Tunisian protest movement is casually described as the consequence of an undemocratic and authoritarian regime, which defies the norms of the "international community". But Ben Ali was not a "dictator". Dictators decide and dictate. Ben Ali was a servant of Western economic interests, a faithful political puppet who obeyed orders, with the active support of the international community.

Foreign interference in Tunisia's domestic affairs is not mentioned in the media reports. The food price hikes were not "dictated" by the Ben Ali government. They were imposed by Wall Street and the IMF.  The role of Ben Ali's government was to enforce the IMF's deadly economic medicine, which over a period of more than twenty years has served to destabilize the national economy and impoverish the Tunisian population. Ben Ali as head of state did not decide on anything of substance. National sovereignty was foregone. In 1987, at the height of the debt crisis, the left nationalist government of Habib Bourguiba was replaced by a new regime, firmly committed to "free market" reforms.

Macroeconomic management under the helm of the IMF was in the hands of Tunisia's external creditors. Over the last 23 years, economic and social policy in Tunisia has been dictated by the Washington Consensus.Ben Ali stayed in power because his government obeyed and effectively enforced the diktats of the IMF, while serving the interests of both the US and the European Union. This pattern has occurred in numerous countries.

Antigovernment Protests Spread Across North Africa and Middle East ~ link ~ As thousands continued to demonstrate in Tunisia over the weekend against the interim “national unity” government, antigovernment protests spread to Algeria, Yemen and Jordan.

State forces in Algeria and Yemen responded to the protests with deadly force. The Associated Press reported that more than a dozen people were killed in Algeria Saturday when police blocked a march on the parliament building in the capital city, Algiers. Some 300 people intending to march from the city’s Place de la Concorde to parliament were quickly blockaded by police armed with batons, tear gas and other weapons.

The opposition said at least 42 protesters were injured. Said Sadi, the head of the opposition Rally for Culture and Democracy (RCD), said party spokesman Mohsen Belabbes was among the injured and the leader of the party’s parliamentary group, Othmane Amazouz, had been arrested.

The Algerian League for the Defense of Human Rights (LADDH) warned Saturday that the blanket government ban on peaceful protest could cause a social explosion. The LADDH, the RCD, four trade unions and the Socialist Forces Front (FFS) announced Friday the formation of a national movement for democracy.

Mounting public anger over unemployment and rising costs sparked protests in Algeria earlier this month that left five people dead and more than 800 injured. In the past two weeks, eight people have set themselves on fire in the country to protest unemployment, poverty, social inequality and government corruption.

The same basic conditions of unemployment and political repression that sparked the mass protests in Tunisia, forcing long-time dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to flee to Saudi Arabia, are fueling the demonstrations in neighboring countries in the Maghreb and further to the east.

In all of these countries, former colonies of Western imperialism and de facto economic colonies of the same powers today, mass unemployment among the youth is the most explosive social factor propelling the unrest. In Algeria, 15 million of the population of 36 million is under the age of 30.

Canadian Arctic basks under record mildness ~ link ~ Another sign that the Thermohaline Circulation System has been seriously damaged by the BP Oil Disaster and its killing of the Loop Current (a key part of the System).  Stirling

Over the last month, the high Arctic in Canada has been experiencing record warmth -- with the average temperatures over a 29-day period more than 21 degrees above normal.

Instead, it appears that the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) has had a strong influence on the region's climate, with a strongly negative NAO blocking the jet stream that normally keeps cold air up in the far Arctic north, and the open water that remains has got the region caught in a positive feedback loop. Instead, that cold air has poured down over Europe and the United States, creating bitterly cold, snowy conditions that have dominated most media coverage of the weather this winter.

The Specter Haunting Europe: Debt, Defaults, Austerity, and Death of the "Social Europe" Model ~ link ~ All programmed by the global banking cartel as part of its End Game for the implantation of their long sought high-tech fascist police state New World Order.   Stirling
A spectre is haunting Europe: the illusion that Latvia’s financial and fiscal austerity is a model for other countries to emulate. Bankers and the financial press are asking governments from Greece to Ireland and now Spain as well: “Why can’t you be like Latvia and sacrifice your economy to pay the debts that you ran up during the financial bubble?” The answer is, they can’t – without an economic, demographic and political collapse that will only make matters worse.
Only a year ago it was recognized that decades of neoliberalism had crashed the U.S. and several European economies. Years of deregulation,  speculation and lack of investment in the real economy had left them with rising inequality and little consumer demand, except for what was financed by running up debt. But the financial press and neoliberal policymakers counterattacked, using the “Baltic Tigers” as an exemplary battering ram to counter Keynesian spending policies and the Social Europe model envisioned by Jacques Delors.

High Frequency Trading Dominates UK Stock Market ~ link ~ This is just one more scam by those that control the banks and stock markets....the global banking families....all about making money from nothing while screwing everybody they possibly can.  Stirling

While high frequency trading makes up somewhere between 50% and 70% of all U.S. stock trades, the number is even higher in the UK. Specifically, a new report by the Tabb Group shows that high frequency trading represents 77% of all UK stock trades.

Criminal Kosovo:  America's Gift to Europe ~ link ~

U.S. media have given more attention to hearsay allegations of Julian Assange’s sexual encounters with two talkative Swedish women than to an official report accusing Kosovo prime minister Hashim Thaci of running a criminal enterprise which, among almost every other crime in the book, has murdered prisoners in order to sell their vital organs on the world market.

Great Depression, Debt and Economic Decline: Ireland, Portugal, Greece, US, UK  ~ link

It is almost as though the Fed, the White House and the House and Senate had planned to do just about everything wrong. All we hear from the illegal alien who is President is that we must have shared sacrifice. That is why we have no win wars to keep the economy going and government loots social Security and Medicare. Have no fear the double dip is on the way even though it spends 60% more than incoming revenues. Neither party has any intention of changing this situation. This year we will experience a decline in all personal purchase categories contrary to what the Fed and the Treasury would like. That means revenues will fall again and debt will increase.

Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission Slams Greenspan, Bernanke, Geithner, Paulson, Summers, SEC, Rating Agencies, and Big Banks for Causing Crisis ~ link ~Many people - including me - predicted that the FCIC would be a whitewash. However, the fact that the Commission has named some of the big fish who caused the crisis is encouraging. And the Commission has indicated that it will make criminal referrals. We'll have to wait and see if the referrals are for big or small fish.

World's Largest Insurance Companies Sue Bank of America Over "Massive Mortgage Fraud: Finding 91% of Securitized Loans are Misrepresented ~ link ~The benchmark for documented mortgage originators’ lies is getting higher and higher. First it was the Allstate lawsuit, finding massive fraud in most Countrywide/Bank of America loans, then it was quantified at 70% after Wells Fargo sued JPMorgan Chase’s EMC division. Now it is all the way up to 91% after a new lawsuit filed by the bulk of the world’s largest insurance companies against Bank of America/Countrywide for “Massive mortgage fraud” has just been made public.

To wit, from the lawsuit: “In carrying out its review of the approximately 19,000 Countrywide loan files, MBIA found that 91% of the defaulted or delinquent loans in those securitizations contained material deviations from Countrywide’s underwriting guidelines. MBIA’s report showed that the loan applications frequently “(i) lack key documentation, such as verification of borrower assets or income; (ii) include an invalid or incomplete appraisal; (iii) demonstrate fraud by the borrower on the face of the application; or (iv) reflect that any of borrower income, FICO score, debt, DTI [debt-to-income,] or CLTV [combined loan-to-value] ratios, fails to meet stated Countrywide guidelines (without any permissible exception).” The plaintiff counsel is Bernstein Litowitz, which was made famous from the WorldCom litigation. We doubt they will settle for a few measily pennies on the dollar. As for the list of litigants, it is a veritable who’s who of the insurance industry: Dexia Holdings, FSA Asset Management, New York Life iInsurance Company, The Mainstay Funds, Teachers Insurance & Annuity, TIAA-CREF Life Insurance, and College Retirement Equities Fund.
