Masking the Extent of the Disaster: The Worst of the Gulf Oil Spill has not been Revealed ~ link ~ One of the biggest hurdles to covering the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico was actually getting a good look at the oil. For somewhat murky reasons (health, safety of fragile habitats), press has been repeatedly forbidden to enter impacted areas by the Coast Guard, BP, or the Fish & Wildlife Service.
I was on the ground in the Gulf. Trying to get the story from one of the fishermen contracted to work with BP was like asking them if they'd like a root canal on the spot. Word is that cleanup workers are told if they talk to the press, they're fired. And then there are the toxic chemical dispersants, which plays the biggest role in masking the extent of the disaster's damage by breaking the oil up and spreading it out -- at who knows what cost. So, the question is, will anyone ever see the worst of the catastrophic BP Gulf oil spill? Here are the five main reasons that you might not.
Big Oil, big Money and Offshore Drilling ~ link ~ This analysis looks behind the scenes at how the ban on offshore drilling was lifted and what that had to do with the ultimate prize for big oil, the American Power Act. It focuses on the current administration. That in no way implies that the problem originated in January 2009. The out sized and destructive influence of the oil monopoly has been with us since the 1870's.
Crime Against Humanity - Worker and Volunteer Cleaning Oil Spill Without Haz-mat Gear ~ link ~ Each and every day that this oil has boiled up out of the depths and hit the surface of the ocean, it has been spreading and evaporating, pollution everything it comes in contact with: marine life; shoreline, marshes, birds, water supplies and fishermen. Any organism that breathes air where petroleum has evaporated has been breathing a variety of carcinogenic chemicals. Anyone who has cleaned up polluted soil, water and oil drenched trash, birds and animals without bio-hazard protective gear has been breathing and ingesting toxic, carcinogenic, dangerous chemicals.
Explosions Collapse Seafloor at Deepwater Horizon Wellhead? ~ link ~ I am not sure that this story is correct, but considering the BS that BP and the Obama Administration has been feeding us, who knows.
A series of explosions appears to have collapsed the seafloor and blown up the BOP at the well head. Oil and gas are billowing out of a depression in the seafloor where the BOP used to be at an exponentially greater rate than anything seen before.
The Gulf Deepwater Oil 'Spill' - The Top Kill Attempt ~ link ~ The next attempt to shut off the flow from the leaking BP well in the Gulf is still aimed to occur early Wednesday. The attempt will use the “top kill” method to try and kill the well. While I have described this in earlier posts, the Unified Command have put out a video animation of the process, and there was an earlier diagram. So I am going to use these, which are simplified explanations, with some additional comments and tie it in to more facts that came out of briefings today, to try and give a more detailed explanation. Here is the animation:

United States to Expand Secret Military Acts in the Mideast Region ~ link ~ That would be secret military acts as in 'secret acts of war'. This is a pre-all-out-war act, one that is taken shortly before open hostilities are engaged in.
The top American commander in the Middle East has ordered a broad expansion of clandestine military activity in an effort to disrupt militant groups or counter threats in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Somalia and other countries in the region, according to defense officials and military documents.
The secret directive, signed in September by Gen. David H. Petraeus, authorizes the sending of American Special Operations troops to both friendly and hostile nations in the Middle East, Central Asia and the Horn of Africa to gather intelligence and build ties with local forces. Officials said the order also permits reconnaissance that could pave the way for possible military strikes in Iran if tensions over its nuclear ambitions escalate.US planning military maneuvers near North Korea ~ link ~ The global banking cartel want a new global war and they intend to get a new global war.

Nuclear war between Koreas - brought to you by the US government ~ link ~ North Korea has perhaps the most evil government on Earth.
As we have documented, North Korea’s nuclear belligerency was almost exclusively a creation of the U.S. government in that they armed the Stalinist state both directly and indirectly through global arms dealers under their control, namely Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. While labeling North Korea as part of the “axis of evil,” the U.S. government was enthusiastically funding its nuclear weapons program at every stage.
Both the Clinton and Bush administrations played a key role in helping Kim Jong-Il develop North Korea’s nuclear prowess from the mid 1990’s onwards.
Just as with Saddam Hussein’s chemical and biological weapons program, it was Donald Rumsfeld who played a key role in arming Kim-Jong-Il.
Rumsfeld was man who presided over a $200 million dollar contract to deliver equipment and services to build two light water reactor stations in North Korea in January 2000 when he was an executive director of ABB (Asea Brown Boveri). Wolfram Eberhardt, a spokesman for ABB confirmed that Rumsfeld was at nearly all the board meetings during his involvement with the company.Turkey rejects Israel deal on Gaza Flotilla ~ link

Merkel's Savage Blitz through Euroland: The German Chancellor pushes the Eurozone closer and closer to the cliff ~ link ~ It's worth reviewing some of the details of the so-called "Greek bailout" to get a handle on how debilitating the EU's austerity measures really are. Here's an excerpt from an article by Polyvios Petropoulos, former economics professor in the US, which outlines some of the harshest cutbacks:
"First of all, the IMF/EU program... is no “help” or “aid” or “rescue”, or even “bailout”, as the IMF, the EU and various commentators are saying. It consists of a series of loans, in fact non-concessional loans...with unprecedented draconian conditionality and the normal interest rate which is charged by the IMF in all cases. As to the EU portion, it is given at an even higher interest rate... Paying 5-6% interest rate, when the country’s GDP growth is -4% p.a., clearly makes the country’s debt problem unsustainable, as has been shown by several economists....
Second, it was not offered to help the “Greek people”. It was offered to help the bondholders, the bankers, the euro, and to avoid contagion with its nasty consequences for the EU and the global economy...
Third, there is absolutely no “protection for the most vulnerable”, as one would have expected from the “socialist” (or “ex-socialist”?) head of the IMF, or the “socialist” Greek government for that matter, and this claim is made several times in both of the documents mentioned above. The opposite is true. A mere listing of some of the austerity measures will suffice to prove my assertion:
-A meager so-called “social solidarity allowance” for destitute people was abolished, despite assurances in the IMF Q&A session that “the targeting of social expenditures will be revised to strengthen the social safety net for the most vulnerable”.
-Despite assurances in the Q&A session that “minimum pensions and family support instruments will not be cut”,all public and private-sector pensions and allowances have been cut, all the way down to meager pensions of 450, 500, 550 euros per month etc., which are well below the poverty line (making it impossible for old pensioners to survive)...
-Reduction of the salaries of even the lowest-paid civil servants....
-Freezing of the lowest salaries and pensions for the next few years, although inflation is already galloping above 4%...
-VAT (value added tax), which was much higher in Greece than in Portugal and Spain, was raised by about 20% on all goods, including basic foodstuffs, which make up the majority of poor people’s purchases.
-Sales taxes were raised on –supposedly- luxury goods…such as gasoline (+50%), cigarettes, beer, wine etc....
To be fair... the reduction of the pitiful pensions of the private sector was not imposed by the IMF officials in

European Single Currency Reaches a Turning Point ~ link ~ Greece today is expected to receive a tranche of 14.5 billion euros ($18 billion) from an emergency loan package offered by the EU and the International Monetary Fund. The same two institutions have also put together a standby rescue fund of almost a trillion dollars to support other troubled eurozone nations if the need arises.
Wall Street Corruption: Are People Losing Faith in the Financial System? ~ link ~ If they have a working brain they have already long since lost any and all faith in Wall Street.
In order for a financial system to be able to function properly, it is absolutely essential that the general population has faith in it. After all, who is going to want to invest in the stock market or entrust their money to big financial institutions if there is not at least the perception of honesty and fairness in the financial marketplace?
For decades, the American people did have faith in Wall Street. But now that faith is being shattered by a string of recent revelations. It seems as though the rampant corruption on Wall Street is seeping up almost everywhere now. In fact, some of the things that have come out recently have been absolutely jaw-dropping.
The truth is that the corruption on Wall Street is much deeper and much more systemic than most of us ever dared to imagine.
As the general public digests these recent scandals, it is going to result in a tremendous loss of faith in the U.S. financial system.
