Lord Stirling calls for a nuclear device to be used to quickly stop the undersea 'volcano' gushing massive amounts of crude oil into the Gulf of Mexico - video ~ link

Latest estimates indicate that up to 3.4 million gallons per day, day in and day out, are gushing into the Gulf of Mexico. BP's latest attempt to cap the gusher has failed. This crap has gone on for almost one month. The Russians used nukes five different times to stop out-of-control gushers. We have a deep well being drilled nearby the wellhead. We could quickly place a relatively small nuclear device in that and detonate it causing the undersea floor to move sufficiently to take out the well piping and totally block the flow of oil. WHY ARE WE NOT DOING THIS? IS THE GOAL THE DESTRUCTION OF AMERICA AND MUCH OF THE WORLD VIA THE GREATEST MAN MADE DISASTER IN HISTORY? ~ Stirling

Breaking News: BP: Mile-Long Tube Sucking Oil Away From Gulf Well ~ link ~
In a major step toward containing a massive Gulf of Mexico oil leak, BP said a mile-long tube was funneling crude Sunday from a blown well to a tanker ship after three days of wrestling to get the stopgap measure into place on the seafloor.

The contraption was hooked up successfully and sucking oil from a pipe at the blown well Sunday afternoon after being hindered by several setbacks. Engineers remotely guiding robot submersibles had worked since Friday to place the tube into a 21-inch pipe nearly a mile below the sea.

Kent Wells, BP's senior vice president for exploration and production, said during a news conference that the amount being drawn was gradually increasing, and it would take several days to measure it. Company spokesman Mark Proegler at the joint spill command center in Louisiana had initially said the tube was containing most of the oil coming from the pipe, which is contributing an estimated 85 percent of the crude in the spill.

BP: Mile-long tube sucking oil away from Gulf of Mexico well ~ link ~ Oil company engineers on Sunday finally succeeded in keeping some of the oil gushing from a blown well out of the Gulf of Mexico, hooking up a mile-long tube to funnel the crude into a tanker ship after more than three weeks of failures.

Millions of gallons of crude are already in the water, however, and researchers said the black ooze may have entered a major current that could carry it through the Florida Keys and around to the East Coast.

BP PLC engineers remotely guiding robot submersibles had worked since Friday to place the tube into a 21-inch pipe nearly a mile below the sea. After several setbacks, the contraption was hooked up successfully and funneling oil to a tanker ship. The oil giant said it will take days to figure out how much oil its contraption is sucking up.

Scientists find giant oil plumes under Gulf ~ link ~ Scientists are finding enormous oil plumes in the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, including one as large as 10 miles long, 3 miles wide and 300 feet thick. The discovery is fresh evidence that the leak from the broken undersea well could be substantially worse than estimates that the government and BP have given.

“There’s a shocking amount of oil in the deep water, relative to what you see in the surface water,” said Samantha Joye, a researcher at the University of Georgia who is involved in one of the first scientific missions to gather details about what is happening in the gulf. “There’s a tremendous amount of oil in multiple layers, three or four or five layers deep in the water column.”

The plumes are depleting the oxygen dissolved in the gulf, worrying scientists, who fear that the oxygen level could eventually fall so low as to kill off much of the sea life near the plumes.

Gulf Oil Disaster: Real disaster might be lurking beneath the surface ~ link ~ The research, combined with other emerging data, could fundamentally alter researchers’ understanding of the oil spill. It suggests that vastly more oil than previously reported could be spilling from the wellhead and the attached riser pipe that now lies crumpled on the seafloor like a kinked and leaking garden hose.

Moreover, it suggests that serious environmental degradation could take place in the open ocean, creating massive “dead zones” where no creature can live because of the lack of oxygen in the water. The spread of oil at all levels of the Gulf also could become a concern for shore communities in hurricanes, which stir up the water column as they come ashore.

Scientists looking at video of the leak, suggest that as many as 3.4 million gallons of oil could be leaking into the Gulf every day – 16 times more than the current 210,000-gallon-a-day estimate, according to the Times.

Obama's Gulf Oil Eco-Catastrophe, Far Worst than Katrina, More Like a Hiroshima ~ link ~
History will view Obama's response as too little, too late, too passive. New findings by a research vessel with a grant that ran out today show walls of oil-saturated death, miles long and wide, depleting oxygen from ocean water.

Obama must commandeer BP's resources, pass immediate legislation ELIMINATING all limits on ALL corporate liability for damages, & fund at least a billion dollars of emergency research & science funding for assessing and analyzing all aspects of the gulf catastrophe-- marine, estuary, economic.

Obama is not in charge. BP is. That should not be.

Noam Chomnsky denied entry into Israel and West Bank ~ link ~ link ~ Noam is one of the most brilliant Jewish professors in the world today. He was denied entry into Israel because he says things that the fascists in the Israeli government don't like.

Interior Ministry spokeswoman Sabine Haddad said Chomsky was turned away for various reasons but declined to elaborate. The ministry was looking into allowing him to enter only the West Bank, said Haddad.

In a telephone interview with Channel 10, Chomsky said the interrogators had told him he had written things that the Israeli government did not like.

"I suggested [the interrogator try to] find any government in the world that likes anything I say," he said.

Chomsky is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is considered among the foremost academics in the world. He identifies with the radical left and is often critical of both Israeli and American policies.

The Greek Debt Crisis:
Hype and Manipulation or is the World Economy Really at Risk ~ link ~
This is a very good article, take the time to read it all if you can.

Everywhere you turn in the financial media right now you see some "expert" declaring that the Greek debt crisis has become a "contagion" which is going to spread all over the globe and which could potentially bring down the entire world economy. Now certainly Greece has badly mismanaged their finances for decades, and without a doubt they have gotten themselves into a huge mess. But could Greece bring down the entire world economy? Hardly.

The truth is that you could remove Greece from the world economy tomorrow and most people would hardly notice. The economy of Greece is only about 2% the size of the United States economy, and it takes in less than 0.1% of U.S. exports. But we are being led to believe that Greece has suddenly become the epicenter of a financial crisis which is going to bring down everything. Could it be that this Greek debt crisis is purposely being hyped and manipulated? Could it be that this Greek debt crisis is yet another example of the "problem, reaction, solution" paradigm that the global elite have employed so many times before?

Right now almost all of the governments in the western world operate debt-based economies that rely on ever-inflating amounts of paper money in order to survive. The elite international bankers of the world have made a killing by creating money out of nothing and loaning it to the nations of the world. The interest on those loans is the primary method by which the wealth of the world is slowly transferred into the hands of the ultra-wealthy. When the interest on the loans starts to become too much for a particular nation, they borrow even more money so that they can stay afloat. It is a debt trap that is designed to continue indefinitely. Even the most powerful nations in the world are caught in this debt trap. In fact, most people are absolutely amazed when they learn that it is mathematically impossible to pay off the national debt of the United States. But the United States is far from alone in that respect. Almost all of the other major nations in the world are in the exact same boat.

So what normally happens when a nation like Greece gets into big trouble is that they just go out and borrow even more money from the international bankers.

But this time the big financial powers are insisting on big budget cuts and other "austerity measures".

So what is the deal with that?

Our Sympathies To The People of Greece ~ link ~ Excellent article, take the time to read it all if you can.

When Argentinians watch the news today and see the terrible things that are happening in Greece, we cannot but say, "Hey!! This is EXACTLY like Argentina in December 2001 and beginning of 2002!". Then too, Argentina underwent its worst systemic banking, public debt and monetary collapse which led to social turmoil, mad violence, rioting, and social war. The turmoil was so bad, that it forced then president Fernando de la RĂșa's government to resign, especially because of his notorious pro-banker cartel economy minister, Domingo Cavallo, generating a political vacuum that led to Argentina having 5 (five!!) presidents in that terrible last week of December 2001.

Financial Fraud: How It Works - The Truth behind the Madoff Investment ~ link ~
“How is it that Chase Manhattan and JP Morgan did not know?” he wondered. “Chase and then JP Morgan Chase held Madoff’s account there, and he put all of the money into a single account. There was up to $17- to $20 billion in that account. They made a fortune off of him. Somehow or other, they never took into account that he wasn’t receiving or sending any money to brokers. Somehow, Chase and Morgan never noticed that money wasn’t coming into this huge account from stocks and other investments. If he had been trading securities and trading options, he would have to have been sending money to brokers and they would have had to have been sending money to him. It is unbelievable.”

Velvel said that it is also difficult to understand why there was no external custodian in place for those accounts and the disgraced financier was allowed to act as his own custodian. He said that the big firms which sent business to Madoff, and in turn were making a fortune from feeding clients to him, received the de facto equivalent of bribes.

“All the SEC had to do was call the Depository Trust Company and ask how many shares Madoff had in any given corporation,” Velvel explained. “The SEC can do that. Ordinary investors cannot; the DTC won’t give them information. As an investor, all you have is that last statement from the broker. But the day after the story finally broke, Madoff didn’t have anything there. The SEC did call finally, but only after the story broke.”

Knowledge, Truth and Human Action: America Hits the Wall ~ link ~ "Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true." [paraphrased Buddhist saying]

Americans have a problem with the truth. They seem to be unable to accept it, which is difficult to understand at a time in history when knowledge plays a larger and larger role in determining human action. Recognition of this problem is widespread. Beliefs and lies somehow always overwhelm truth, even when they are so contradictory that any effective action becomes impossible. A kind of national, psychological paralysis occurs. Nothing can be done because one belief contradicts another, and for some unknown reason, the facts don't matter. Even during those times when an overwhelming belief does compel action, Americans rush headlong into it neglecting the adage that headlong often means wrong.

Paul Craig Roberts writes, "Today Americans are ruled by propaganda. Americans have little regard for truth, little access to it, and little ability to recognize it. Truth is an unwelcome entity. It is disturbing. It is off limits. Those who speak it run the risk of being branded 'anti-American,' 'anti-semite' or 'conspiracy theorist.' Truth is an inconvenience for government and for the interest groups whose campaign contributions control government. Truth is an inconvenience for prosecutors who want convictions, not the discovery of innocence or guilt. Truth is inconvenient for ideologues." Unfortunately he casts the blame on the characters of people: "economists sell their souls for filthy lucre. . . . medical doctors who, for money, have published in peer-reviewed journals concocted 'studies' that hype this or that new medicine produced by pharmaceutical companies that paid for the 'studies. . . .' Wherever one looks, truth has fallen to money."

UK Public Debt Spiraling Out of Control - Will it become the next Greece? ~ link ~ Now that the Greek debt crisis has been "fixed" by a gigantic pile of more debt, many are wondering which European nation will be next to experience a massive debt crisis. Increasingly, all eyes are turning to the U.K. and their public debt that is spiralling out of control.

The U.K. government's deficit is projected to be approximately 13 percent of GDP in 2010, which is even worse than Greece's 12.5 percent figure. Right now the public debt of the U.K. is "only" at 68 percent of GDP, but three years ago it was sitting at about 40 percent, so as you can see the national debt of the U.K. is absolutely exploding in size.

In fact, it is now being projected that the public debt of the U.K. will exceed 100 percent of GDP within the next three years. Considering the fact that citizens of the U.K. are some of the most highly taxed people in the world already, there just is not much room for raising more revenue.

Scientists forecast decades of ash clouds ~ link ~ THE Icelandic eruption that has caused misery for air travellers could be part of a surge in volcanic activity that will affect the whole of Europe for decades, scientists have warned.

They have reconstructed a timeline of 205 eruptions in Iceland, spanning the past 1,100 years, and found that they occur in regular cycles — with the relatively quiet phase that dominated the past five decades now coming to an end.

At least three other big Icelandic volcanoes are building towards an eruption, according to Thor Thordarson, a volcanologist at Edinburgh University.

“The frequency of Icelandic eruptions seems to rise and fall in a cycle lasting around 140 years,” he said. “In the latter part of the 20th century we were in a low period, but now there is evidence that we could be approaching a peak.”

China's Hydroelectric Sector Crippled by Severe Drought ~ link ~ The unexpected things often determine the results of energy experiments or expectations. It is also axiomatic that nothing is ever perfect in this business. For proof of those two thoughts, consider what has been happening in China the past several months and how it has affected what was supposed to be one of the best examples of energy alternatives.

A severe drought that has plagued southwest China since August 2009 has caused a painful shortage of water in the region. And that drought is crippling the region’s hydroelectric power generation sector. But the dams themselves are making the drought even worse because their operators are focused almost solely on power generation rather than water conservation.

South Korea fires warning shots at North Korean warships ~ link ~ "Two patrol boats crossed on two separate occasions and warning shots were fired," BBC quoted a South Korean official as saying on Sunday.

The first North Korean vessel retired after a South Korean ship broadcast a warning and the second vessel retreated after a couple of warning shots were fired, said the official, on condition of anonymity.

The incident is the most serious skirmish between the two nations since a South Korean warship was mysteriously sunk in March.

Seoul suspects that a North Korean torpedo hit the military vessel but Pyongyang has denied being responsible for the sinking.
