A Detention Bill You Ought To Read More Carefully ~ link ~
Why is the national security community treating the "Enemy Belligerent, Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010," introduced by Sens. John McCain and Joseph Lieberman on Thursday as a standard proposal, as a simple response to the administration's choices in the aftermath of the Christmas Day bombing attempt? A close reading of the bill suggests it would allow the U.S. military to detain U.S. citizens without trial indefinitely in the U.S. based on suspected activity. Read the bill here, and then read the summarized points after the jump.

According to the summary, the bill sets out a comprehensive policy for the detention, interrogation and trial of suspected enemy belligerents who are believed to have engaged in hostilities against the United States by requiring these individuals to be held in military custody, interrogated for their intelligence value and not provided with a Miranda warning.

US-China: Provoking the Creditor, Hugging the Holy Man - Washington's Road to Ruin ~ link ~ If you are going to have a new world war, you have got to have two sides to fight one another. What we are witnessing is the manipulation of world events to create two groups of nations to do battle against one another someday relatively soon. The Obama Administration has heightened tensions with China through a series of measures which can only be characterized as major provocations designed to undermine relations between the two countries.

Suppressing Evidence - David Miliband and the UK Complicity in Torture ~ link ~
Two weeks ago the Foreign Secretary David Miliband lost his long legal battle to suppress a section (known as paragraph 168) from a court decree revealing that MI5 officers were involved in the torture of ex terror suspect and British resident, Binyam Mohamed. Up until now the testimonies of released British Residents Omar Deghayes, Mozzam Begg and Binyam Mohamed have not been fully absorbed by the British public. This is despite the fact Omar Deghayes entered Cuba with two eyes but came home with one. Many news consumers prefer to maintain that detainee accounts of asphyxiation, physical torment, sexual and religious abuse, were either deserved, fabricated or necessary. Others can not contemplate that a nation proudly branding itself on civil liberties, tolerance and ‘fair play’ could willfully throw us back into the medieval barbarism of the Norman Conquests. Yet, as Miliband’s credibility crumbles in the light of his failed cover-up, so the plausibility of Binyam Mohammed’s testimony gains ground. The tide is changing.

Recently Court of Appeal also stated that it withstood ‘unprecedented bullying’ from the Foreign and Home Secretary to withdraw 168 from its ruling. However, Miliband’s plee was overturned by independent judges and we now know the report stated that British treatment of Binyam Mohammed was “at the very least cruel, inhuman, and degrading”. David Miliband dismissed the testimony of this particular British resident, whose torments included having razzor blades applied to his penis, as ‘ludicrous lies.’

The independent judge apparently dissagrees with our delightful foreign secretary. He warns that the integrity our government is now under serious dispute and suggests that Miliband has an undisclosed agenda.

Liberal Democrats rule out hung Parliament deal with Brown ~ link ~ GORDON BROWN’S hopes of clinging on as prime minister in a hung parliament suffered a serious blow last night when the Liberal Democrats indicated they would refuse to accept him as the leader of a minority government.

Tories: Brown using UK troops as political props ~ link ~ Yes he is, and rather shamefully at that. He is the leftist Chancellor who refused to fund the British Armed Forces and then supported his neocon masters in the lies that took the UK into two wars. Now, as he campaigns to stay in office (feeding at the public trough), he is the soldiers best friend. What crap!

United Kingdom set to be most expensive of financial centers with new 50% income tax ~ link ~
At present London is one of the most competitive financial centers when compared to New York, Paris, Frankfurt, Genera, Zurich, Dubai and Hong Kong; KPMG produced four case studies and found that when a 50 percent levy for income over 150,000 pounds ($227,490) is introduced, in three of those cases it becomes the most expensive for tax and social security, the newspaper said.

Gordon Brown fails to curb storm over Army war funding ~ link ~ A row over Prime Minister Gordon Brown's visit to troops in Afghanistan shows the war and military spending will remain potent issues in this year's election despite Brown's efforts to defuse them.

British civil servants plan massive strike ~ link ~
Up to 270,000 civil servants are to strike for 48 hours across the UK, in what will be the biggest industrial action by the sector in two decades.

The parliament, courts, job centers, tax offices, museums and emergency police call centers are among some of the services that will be affected by the move.

Russia: The Mystery in the Forest ~ link ~
March 7, 2010: The army insists that the 200 T-72 and T-80 tanks found in the woods next to a railroad station in the Urals last week, was part of a normal movement of military equipment, and the vehicles were under guard. But a week ago, people living in village of Elanskaya (outside the city of Yekaterinburg) noted the vehicles, unguarded, and unlocked, but without ammo or ignition keys. Local kids began crawling in and out of the tanks. Videos of all this began showing up on local, then national, web news programs. The government controlled national media tried to ignore it at first. Eventually the troops showed up, and then the tanks began disappearing, as trains with flat cars came by at night to pick them up.

Japanese city wants no part of hosting USMC base ~ link ~ The new Japanese government wants to relocate some US bases and appears to be making major efforts to distance itself from the neocon driven Washington establishment.
Washington has nearly 50,000 troops based in Japan, more than half of whom are in Okinawa.

Leading Japanese politician "espouses a 9/11 fantasy" ~ link ~ This Washington Post article has two things of note. First, it covers the fact that a senior Japanese politician is willing to go on record as not believing the Official US Government Conspiracy Theory (that some 6'6" Arab sat in a cave in Afghanistan and caused the USAF to stand down on 9/11 and also changed the laws of physics to allow a relatively limited jet fuel fire to bring down all three World Trade Center buildings including one that was not even hit by an airplane). Most intelligent people in the world no longer buy into this US government nonsense.

Secondly, the Washington Post's tone and talk of "conspiracy theories"/etc. is so blatantly a case of being an accessory after the fact to the False Flag Event that it further destroys its already dying credibility with the public. It is not only the Internet and the economy that is killing the mainstream news media. There are now only seven large companies that control almost all of the mainstream news media in America. Their lack of real reporting and their blatant serving as paid mouthpieces for the worst of the political and financial bums seeking to destroy America has caused a large part of the American citizenry to reject them as a trustworthy source of news. More and more Americans now turn to alternative news sites on the Internet.

Bad things happen when empires fall apart ~ link ~
But the dominant tone is more or less of contempt: who are these people, to orate about events a century ago in a country that most of them could not find on the map? It all joins with resentment at US doings in Iraq, and in the popular mind gets confused with the Swiss vote against minarets or Europe’s ridiculous admission of Greek Cyprus to their Union.

In practice the Turks are being alienated, and will be encouraged to think that the West is doing another version of the Crusades, that “the only friend of the Turk is the Turk”, and other nationalist nonsense of a similar sort. Nowadays Turkey does not need the Western link as before: trade and investment have been switching towards Russia and Central Asia; the Chinese are quite active in Ankara. Is that what we want to achieve, in a country that is otherwise the best advertisement for the West that anyone could have imagined back in 1950?

Haaretz: Jewish lobby behind US Armenia genocide vote? ~ link ~ Israel and Turkey are traditional allies but ties took a downturn in 2009 when Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned Israel's offensive in Gaza, in which some 1,400 Palestinians and 13 Israelis were killed.

A crisis in diplomatic relations came to a head in January when when Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon publicly humiliated Turkey's ambassador in front of press cameras.

US genocide resolution is an ignorant stunt ~ link ~
So the foreign affairs committee of the US House of Representatives has passed a resolution (by 23 votes to 22) that the Turkish killings of Armenians in 1915 amounted to genocide. What business is it of theirs? I'm not judging whether their decision was right; I don't know enough to do that. My concern is that such ham-fisted intervention, and the publicity it received, demeans a crime which should be treated as the worst in the annals of human behaviour, and turns it into a political event played out by largely ignorant legislators responding to a campaign by a well-funded political lobby.

US-NATO Offensive Unravels in Afghanistan: The Longest Foreign War in American History ~ link ~ The Pentagon offensive against the Afghan city of Marjah was public-relations media hype from the very first day. The sole purpose of the offensive in Marjah was to convince the U.S. population and increasingly tepid NATO allies that this imperialist war is winnable.

Despite all these occupation forces, Afghanistan has become an imperialist quagmire with no stability, no security and no end in sight.

Klerksdorp Spheres - Forbidden History ~ link ~ "Over the past several decades, South African miners have found hundreds of metallic spheres, at least one of which has three parallel grooves running around its equator. The spheres are of two types--'one of solid bluish metal with white flecks, and another which is a hollow ball filled with a white spongy center'[1].

Klerksdorp SpheresRoelf Marx, curator of the museum of Klerksdorp, South Africa, where some of the spheres are housed, said: 'The spheres are a complete mystery. They look man-made, yet at the time in Earth's history when they came to rest in this rock no intelligent life existed. They're nothing like I have ever seen before'.
